Default Nehalem Bay crabbing

Wife and I are wanting to get out this coming weekend for some crabbing and some fishing. Has anyone had any luck with the crabbing in Nehalem this last week, or the fishing for that matter? I am open to other north oregon coastal spots also. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

RK-

I crabbed in Netarts Bay last Thursday. We caught 2 limits in about 3 hours down by the marina. We used old coho carcasses, but shad is usually the best. Make sure you're out there well before high slack. Crab through the incoming and high slack, then it usually shuts off completely.

I crabbed Nehelam on Sunday. Very Slow. The guys at Jetty Fishery said that the rain last made the crabbing slower but I should come back in shape later this week if it doesn't rain much more.

Saturday I dropped some pots in Tillamook while trolling and we got 20 Keepers in a couple hours. No Fish though. only saw a couple caught in the Jaws.

Tundra,

I would be interested in some shad for bait. I was just planning on picking up some carcus's where ever we end up crabbing. I would like to talk with you about Astoria also. Mother inlaw lives there, so thats definitely an option. My nighttime email is dgravning3@attbi.com. Drop me an email tonight.

Was down there 24th.-26th. Crabbing was ok. Got one limit per day but was there to fish.Crabbed down by the state park boat launch in 14-18 feet of water. Got one nice 25 lb. buck up on the streach before the barn hole. Friday we saw 3 caught. Sat. around 20 caught. Sun. fished until 9:00am. saw one caught. The bite was around 9-11 in the morning

Crabbed Nehalem Sunday the 26th from one hour before high tide to about one hour after, we got 10 keepers; most of them being nice big ones.
Using 3 pots with salmon heads & tails.
North side of the jaws above the breakers in 20 to 30ft of water. You do not want to keep your pots in to much past high tide your floats will go under.

Good luck,
