Re: TR-1
We have developed a wireless remote as an option for those that want it. You will need your wired remote for programing, and special features. The wireless can be added on at any time, it will be dasic, the size of a car door remote with steering, throttle control, and idle resume. Keep watching my post's, as soon as we let it go, I'll post.
Thanks Pete/TR-1

Re: TR-1
I got TR-1 gold this spring and I don't think I can't fish without it any more. I don't use all the extra things yet. May be I shuld study more to use it to maximum capavility.
One wish I have is to go change the funktion (resume idel or zig zag) without changeing funcktion button. Only other thing that I can think of is my hydrolic conection to my honda comes undon (from viblation of engin). I need to inspect to make sure connetion is secure before everytime I go out.
With this TR-1, I can go out and catch fish by myself without having problem netting the big one.

Re: TR-1
Thanks guys/gals, I will be leavin home at 5:00 am to tackle the Alsea tomarrow. No sleep this weekend. You should not have to make sure your TR-1 is not going to fall appart before you use it. Please dont tell me TR-1 put it on. If ever 24/7 customers need my help call Cell#503-329-5117, office 800-588-7655, and my home 541-563-2652. I fish, Fish, Fish only cause I dont have to sit on the back of my boat, nor worry about who is steering. That is a fact, not because I am the worlds best salesman. (ha, ha)
PS: I am testing the final( lets hope) wireless Remote this weekend. Several will be sent out to the selected customers who beat the...... out of things, January is a plan for me to say go!
Thanks again,
Pete/TR-1

Re: TR-1
white salmonhunter,
do you have hose clamps on the hydraulic hoses?
Pete,
I could not be more happy with my TR-1. It has made it 10 times easier to fish and run the boat at the same time.

Re: TR-1
Hey Pete, how about a step by step manual for some of the key features? I always forget how I did it the last time and have to decipher the general instructions again, usually under fire, so I just forget it. A card with some 1,2,3 instructions would be handy for me.
My only hope for the wireless is to have inexpensive replacements. I just know I'm going to drop it over the side one day. How about one that is totally sealed and floats?

Re: TR-1
Pete will the new wireless remote adapt to the old system (not the gold)? Also, I need to talk to ya about my system. I've had it for at least six years now. What a nice piece of equipment to add! The TR-1 gets my vote for the # 1 item in the "boat jewlery department"................Bobber Down

Re: TR-1
Thanks,
I will try and awnser all questions at once. Yes use stainless hose clamps at pump and cylinder. use locktite (red) on all parts mounted to kicker. As for the remote, the antenna is water proof, the small electronic box is water proof, but the remote we can not tamper with at all( FAA) so try and avoid dropping it overboard. I used the wireless all weekend fishing the alsea(the real thing) It went perfect. Now with further testing and circut board lead times, December( Christmas) may happen, Boat Show time most likely.
The Alsea was hot this weekend, After fighting the biggest fish I have ever had on for 36 min. saturday.( Lost it), Sunday I Landed a fish about half the size of Saturdays (29lbs) Lost 3 more. It was very hard not to make a detour this morning and hit the river again. Boss just would'nt understand!
Thanks,
Pete/TR-1

Re: TR-1
All TR-1 customers will recieve a Christmas Flyer, mailings start the later part of October. I am guessing $400.00 on the wireless.

Re: TR-1
Thanks for your question.
We've not been using our TR1 hardly at all, as we're almost always in wind chop or ocean waves. Enabling the unit in these conditions results in erratic performance.
I'll assume this has something to do with the 'sea state' adjustment. But that sea-state set-up change, where if I recall you have to count the flashing lights and translate that into a numerical value, seems rather complicated - so we let it remain at the default value which your technician/installer originally set it to.
Maybe in calmer conditions the TR1 will have more utility.

Re: TR-1
Yeah, you're right Thumper; all those waves slapping the hull do make a racket. But look at the alternative, if a lot of us weren't out there in that raucus water - some nice flat water spots suitable for battery operated boats would be a whole lot more crowded .

Re: TR-1
Actually we fished with Chris Vertopoulis who has a TR-1. They are pretty slick, and I was impressed how much less hectic it made his job.
You are welcome to fish with we silent killers anytime Gary.

Re: TR-1
garyk,
I started the summer with the TR-1 working beautifully. Around mid-July it started to not track straight in the ocean. In fact if we were in big swells it would sometimes send the boat into a tight circle pattern. This was not fun!! After that trip I checked all the connections and installation. I found that when they installed the system they failed to use nylon lock nuts on the bracket for the compass ball. 2 of the three nuts had worked off and when we went over a large swell the compass ball would flop one direction and then another. After I remounted the compass ball with nylon lock nuts the proper performance returned.
Hope this helps as I found that in the ocean, even with wind and wind chop, it worked great.

Re: TR-1
Gary,
Your pilot needs to be fine tuned, we run the pilot more in the ocean than anything, If you give me a call I'll help you to dial the pilot in a little better than it is now. I would be glad to help.

Re: TR-1
Peter, thanks I will take you up on that. Do we need to be on the lumpy water to do that tuning adjustment?

Hay Pete;
I have been looking at the TR-1 Gold for some time now. I was wondering why it doesn’t have an option to allow shifting forward and reverse?

Shift and start is a no brainer after the unit you folks have put together.
You could really have the "full meal deal" with a little work....

Re: TR-1
I love mine!!
A laminated cheat-sheet would be nice with all the funtions, thinking about just making one myself.
The only thing I don't like is the rattle I get at high RPM's from the swivel bracketry where the hydraulic arm attaches (the one with the cotter pins).
Besides the rattle I couldn't ask for a better product!

Re: TR-1
A BETTER WARRANTEE. I was pretty upset when the nylon end on the steering piston failed while fishing with my kids a few weeks ago. I was really disgusted when I was informed that even though my unit was only 18 months old, the entire piston unit needed to be replaced and was $95.00 (but eventually discounted to $75.00). BUT, since the new pistons have different connectors for the hydraulic hoses, as well as new style of hoses, I really should update the hoses as well.
The bottom line a broken nylon piece cost me $135.00 to fix a unit that was only 18 months old. At least the new piston has metal connecting ends.

Re: TR-1
I am sorry you are discusted with having a part break out of warrenty. The main reason that nylon end cap get's week is if the kicker is not stopping on it's factory stops, if it is not, the back of that cylinder takes a pounding. The change over to a aluminum cylinder came from the high price increase of that type of plastic/nylon material.
Here is a little story for you all about autopilots, and what I am being told from the east coast( Main Motor Pilots) ( Simrad, Raymarine etc.) A owner of one of these pilots has to budget $1200.00-$2000.00 a year just to keep it working (every year). I am not putting our competitors down, Though never in our ten years of business has any of our TR-1 Customers had to spend that kind of money to keep our pilots working( Unless there boat sank) We will soon own the east coast market with our TR-1 Gladiator Autopilot.

Peter.... I'm a great believer in putting my money into Boat Jewelry, and since I live in the mid-Columbia, the wind can blow, just abit.
Here's the question. I have a 2003 19' Alumaweld Stryker. What would it cost to buy and have installed? Total Price.....
Thanks, Tim

I am not going to post Advertising prices up, due to keeping the board clean as some may say, Call me, lets do it. I will be making a trip to Seattle the 13th of October, than I will be off on the Big Bird to Florida boat shows the 17th of october. I also am fishing the Alsea this weekend, Look for the yellow bananna bayliner boat. I'll have a picture to post of my last fish catch soon.

Re: TR-1
Pete, I guess the guy from PSA finally broke down and bought one? He is going to love it, and all the gadgetry it does. Took one of my buddies last year Halibut fishing and we had to back into the seas and he was amazed that we could worry about out rods rather than always have a hand on the tiller.

Thanks Steve, Seing is believing, It's TR-1 customers that sell them for us. I'll be at the PSA meting on the 14th in Edmonds. I'll have on installed on a Sea-Sport, and be able to demo. the system for any who want to see the TR-1 in action. Hopefully the water is rough and the wind is a blowin!
Thanks again,
