Sounds a bit sloppy for me. But I am a weenie. 7 seconds is getting steep.

rule of thumb is you add the wind waves and the swells, if they exceed the interval you should keep your 21 footer in the slip.

I wouldn't go out in those conditions. Even if you can get out, it is very difficult to fish, rig bait, etc because you are being thrown around. Keep waiting for those 2', 4' days with 14 sec intervals when you feel like you're kickin it on east lake on a sunny july day!

I had plans to go out in a big deep 30' craft and we're doing other things this weekend unless it improves.

thats what i'm talking about!

I have a 24' boat and a serious itch to get back in the salt this weekend, and if that forcast holds, I'm not even thinking about it.

That is a little too much wind, and that tall of a wind wave at 7 seconds would not be fun.

Good things come to people who wait....right?

Thats what I have to keep telling myself anyways

I run a 21' TJ outta Garibaldi & My personal rule is 8' combined, & I look real close at the swell timing & tides before I'll go out in that. At 5' swell & 3' wind wave, its all you can do to hold the boat straight & definitaly not fun at that point. Avoid the ebb, its a short bar but very nasty on a strong ebb with a sloppy ocean.

I concur with nwsteelheader & streetwalker. I also have a 21ft. NR & will not attempt Big Blue unless the combined is below eight or exceed the interval. Not worth it.

Dumb question time. What is this "exceed the interval" thing you guys mentioned?

I believe Full freezer is talking aboout the swell timing or "period", generally 1.5 x swell height is minimum for me, 2x is better yet. Look at the bouy reports link & you will see the swell hight vs. period & wind wave heights, look at that before you leave the house in the morning, & make your decision on go /no go. Don't take chances out there, theres allways another day & it looks like we will get full seasons this year, so pick your days carefully.
