About everything you get in the water is working. I have been using cut plugs behind a flasher. We also have been using hoochies behind flashers with a filet, or cut plug herring. Apex have worked as well, but I stick to the bait.
Good luck, happy multiple takedowns!

Oh yea, take lots of bait if you plan on being out a while, they seem to be thieving little buggers, and the natives just pig out on fresh bait.

I dont know, I have never really used packaged herring. I get mine fresh from Winchester bay, cheaper and fresh there, $4 a dozen live, $5 or more in Charelston. I have used big and little herring, doesnt matter really in my opinion, I like small herring personally, they spin better and dont drag so much. If your gonna filet them, Id use bigger herring, dont know what label that is.

Flyguy,

Like OSO says it doesn't really matter what size. Kind of depends on how you're fishing for them. I've been using herring chunks on a squid stinger. Green and pink Hoochies have been pretty good, but I think as long as you have herring on the hook you will catch em!

If you don't want to go to the dock at Winchester Bay for fresh herring (they have been a little small like green lable) you can always stop at the Texeco in Reedsport and they sell some nice size frozen Umpqua herring for $4.50 a dozen. It can be cut plugged. I think several tackle store in Charleston sell herring as well.

Good Luck!
