Default San Juan Kings (pic)

Sorry, a little late to post from this weekend. Fishing has been consistent, but you really have to work for them. Find the bait and pound it!! The fish are there, but they may not be feeding. It seems lately like just when we are about to give up, bam, Fish On!!! Then they bite like crazy, then it's dead. So go get um and don't give up. Persistence pays off. Straight herring, no flashers, right on the bottom. We were in the northern Juans.

Sorry 5-Cents.....I can't stories very well. I did have another Maple bar though.

Oh ya, the bites.

Depth: Right on the bottom, we usually drag our balls. (No pun intended!!!) These were at 85 feet.

Yes, fun, not work. A guy gets to fish on a Sunday, right. I'll be dreaming all week again. Hopefully nickle doesn't post something that really makes me wish for the weekend. :depressed:

Those are some awesome fish. I think we are heading up to Neah Bay in a couple of weeks, but that is aways from where you are probably fishing. Hopefully there will be a couple left in the ocean for "the carp".

Sorry I haven't e-mailed lately, been out of town for awhile, but just got back yesterday. Go get some more and post them pics. A few of us love to see them.

Hey thanks for the report from up north. It's good to see. I hear there are tons of fish headed your way from what I read on the Canadian boards and they say the pinks are HUGE this year. Let us know when they get there!

Ok, since I have harped on others about not giving hot spots, here we go. North end of Orcas Island. We start at Parker Reef and then hit Doty or go down the west side to West Beach. If all else fails, then Point Lawrence. Yes, Lawrence has been typical on and off this summer. West Beach was hot for BIG fish, but since has died. The nice thing about Parker is that you get a mix of Fraser fish and Kings headed for the Sammish, plus the residents just cruising around. With nine days, man you should do well. Please let us know and post the pictures.

Crabbing has been good, but the 4th hammered a lot of them. The Pinks should be coming anytime, but you will have to go to the south, around Cattle Point, as you know. This is a Humpy year, so

Go get em!!! Keep it simple. No fancy flashers. Just good old herring and ON THE BOTTOM.

Green Machine,

Where have you been fishing? Approx. location is OK. I'm heading up to Orcas Island next week for 9 days. Crabbing/Fishing/Sun. We've done pretty good off of Lawrence Point (NE side of Orcas) at times, but it can pretty spotty also.

We were just cruising around last summer and salmon were jumping everywhere on the west side of Stuart Island. Broke out the fishing gear and proceded to catch pink salmon one right after another for about 3 hours. My wife's 9 year old niece had a ball. She even caught 5 or 6 on her 5' Zebco spincasting outfit.

Thanks, Rich

I am staying at the campground on Orcas August 13-18. Are the fish still there then? Are the coho there then? How big do they run then and where is the best place to go? Thanks for the reports/info. I have only been up there as a child so I don't remember anything. Where do you crab around there. You can e-mail me if you want it kept quiet. Jesse
