Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
I noticed on the general board some Ifishers who want to quit smoking or chewing for the new year.
HERE'S MY OFFER.
Quit smoking and I'll take you out on my new boat for some springers or sturgeon, you just have to be honest with me that you have indeed kicked the habit. Let's say you make it last till april 1st, how's that. It's great to see you guys willing to make a run at quitting a bad habit and you should be rewarded with a cool day of fishing , would'nt you say?
Anyone else out there with a boat who wants to join me in supporting these Ifishers in the endeavor? Maybe we could get a "kicked the habit"
floatilla together.
Good luck to everybody!

I'll make that same offer for a little springer action on the Sandy. You kick it for four months until May 1st and we can arrange a trip down the Sandy, my treat.............

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
I don't smoke but might start if it could help me eat less.
I just want to loose some weight and get into shape does that count?
Oh well worth a try.
Having a food addiction is serious with me now because I have a herniated stomach muscle that should have been operated on three years ago.
I would have to quit fishing to recover from the surgery.
Nice of you to offer help too thoise tobacco addicted fishing people. I hate picking up cigarette butts when cleaning up after the morons that think the world is their ashtray. Not very many take them back with them when they leave a fishing hole.
I hope they quit.

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
I quit 2 weeks ago. I had to go into surgery (Total Thyroidectomy) and decided that I had to quit. I am thinking I am going to give up on drinking too. The association of a beer and a cigarette is too appealing and so it will end atleast for the short haul.

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
I used to smoke about 2 packs a day. That is pretty close to a sled payment. Quit, then spend the money so ya can't go back and ya got something to show for it.
I do find it very funny that nobody wants to take a middle of withdrawls barely ex smoker out on day 2 or 3!

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
Brad, you have come up with a great idea. Let's have a KICKING THE HABIT FLOTILLA DAY for those Kicking a habit that will improve our health. No matter if it is Smoking, Chewing, Drinking or Dieting. I am working on that Dieting part and it is no easier than the others.
We will be making our New Year Resolutions come tomorrow night so let's give everyone a day of SPRINGER FISHING as a reward to our selves. But we all go on the same day. We could count the people and all meet at the ramp of our choice and hit the water for a fun day of Chewing or should I say chatting about our new ways of life or just plain old fishing.
I am willing to assist in getting this going and to help make it happen. We would not want to compete with other possible events. Call or email me if you want to expand this to a larger group of Resolution Makers.

true, that could be one ugly hog line!!
Safetychain, way to go! So when I take you out for the sturgeon challenge I won't need to bring the ashtray, cool! Snapshot, looking good man, you have lost some serious poundage, keep it up.
A springer floatilla sounds like a good plan.

safetychain, stay away from sharp ojects, including hooks. Although judging by you post, you seem to be full of peace right now.
I'll call ya about fishing this weekend, we'll have to re-thaw those smelt, but they'll work just fine.

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
(Totally off topic)
Big Tule, I cannot stop laughing about your sig.
"Go ahead and cark my brothers!"
I totally understood what you wanted to say but man, do you really dislike your brothers that much? I am not sure my 9" fillet knife is gonna' cut it. (no pun intended)
back to the matter at hand,
Am I disqualified for starting early? I would be much less likely to jump ship and swim after the !%!%%#$^%&$# that crossed my line. I may have already learned that impatience will get you know where. (I'll bring a sling shot! J/K)

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
Tried quiting in October for the umpteenth time. Need to end it. Yooper was able to do it, but I could not.
Starting tonight at Midnight, I will stop chewing and smoking. This post is just the incentive I need.
Count me in. Looking forward to the challenge and the Kick the Habit hogline. We could even contact KATU and get some anti-smoking air time for IFISH.
Something about cleaning up our waterways, one cigarette butt at a time.

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
GBS, Okay my boat is in on this for sure.
Big Tule can ride along. You have a seat reserved for springer fishing. This is for those that are dooers not want-a-bees.
SafetyChain, it's okay to be around the sharp objects like HOOKS as long as they are barbless
Brad, thanks for noticing, Let's pick something like the Multnomah Channle in April for this Trip. These Super Hero's will have earned it. We may ahv eto wait to pick the exact day becasue of fish and river conditions.
I can hardly wait. WE may and need more boats and I hope we do.

Re: Incentive to quit smoking. An open seat.
Hey for all you guys that are quitting smoking and chewing. I quit 8 years ago, I was smoking three packs a day. I have been after my fishin buddy to quit ever since then. He finally quit 2 months ago, he had a heart attack at 49. He is recovering but wishing he would have quit sooner. For all of you that quitting now more power to you, and for those that are wanting to quit, it's time. There are still a lot of fish out there to catch, deer and elk to hunt, and a lot of golf to be played.
The best wishes to all of you
