Just a Reminder if you are 40 and younger, live in Oregon you need the card for 2004.

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
Follow this link to the ONLINE CLASS AND EXAM. It's a good refresher, even if you are a dinosaur (over 40).

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
The online version is the one I used. But I did just notice that they'll be doing the classes at the Portland Boat Show beginning this weekend.
Yep, an excuse on why you must go to the boat show...

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
Now, I am confused...I followed the link provided and went to the equivalency exam link and it said that I was required to pay prior to taking the test. It also said that I would have to finish the test then as you couldn't stop and then restart later.
I remember a few months ago I found a website that listed itself as the certified test site for the Oregon boater's card. I started the test, got 2/3rds of the way through it, then saved the test. The website said that I could come back anytime and finish the exam.
Does anyone know which site that was? I believe that I found the link on Ifish, but, I can't remember.
I can't believe that I put this off so long.
I wonder how many other people need this card starting Thursday and do not have it.
Thanks,

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
Tagster,
The link above is the same site that you describe. I took my test through them and at the time you could leave and come back, and there was not a fee until after you passed the test. They must have realized they can make more money this way.
Good luck!
Scott

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
FF, thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
That explains it. Too bad they couldn't charge only if you passed, such as DEQ does.
Oh well.
Thanks again.

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
Don't forget if you have taken a boater education class (like the Coast Guard auxiliary course) you can send in a copy of the certificate in lieu of the test.

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
Thanks,Bubba your link works and it is free and you can stop and return anytime within 30 days.
It is still $15.00 to the state of Oregon for the card though.

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
I took the test before it cost anything online.
I found it really difficult. Not only that, I called a couple guides (won't mention who) and they also had a tough time with some of the questions.
Are they all that hard?
Funny thing, I'm still not very good at driving a boat! If they knew that, I wonder if they would give it to me, still!

Re: Oregon Boaters Education Card
I just took mine online just so I have a little more Knowledge. I found the test not simple but not hard, thanks from all of the lessons over the years from my Dad. (Don't you ever listen) He has been runing the lewis river since the late 60's. He has also taught me a lot about the ocean, how to read the water and weather changes. I'm sure luckly he got my brother and I in to fishing/boating at a young age.
