Default Good Bass Fishing near Sunriver, OR?

Heading to Sunriver for the long weekend on the Fourth of July... Was hoping to drag my boat and do some fishing!

Was hoping to get advice on a good spot for bass? Crane, Prineville, Wickiup or any place within a hour or so drive from Sunriver? Also any advice on what to use while I'm out there.

I'm new to bass finish and quickly falling in love with it!

Thanks in advance for all your help.

A few years ago your options would have been limited...... I haven't heard of any bass in Wickiup, thank goodness! But today I would be heading to Crane for the bucket mouths.

You can catch small smallmouth bass all over the lake at prineville. If you have a wife and/or kids that wouldn't be a bad bet. You can get them some action all day long. Just use small baits damn near anywhere on the lake. Don't except much for quality though... tons of 6-8 inch fish. Toss some crank baits and you may even catch a couple trout in the mix.

I fish for bass about six times a year, mostly in the Umpqua where I drop shot plastic worms...... And Ten Mile where I toss stick or cranks. I have fished on crane a couple of time in recent years, I toss crank baits when on the search.

Some good fishing around Sunriver. I've brought my boat over there a few times. Crane Prairie is good and so is Wickiup. Davis lake is full of bass also but fly fishing only.

No Bass in Wickiup...thats funny...
PVR has alot more than dinks too if you know where to look (deeper), throwing small plastics at the bank in midSummer will net large amounts of dinks for sure. Work a Brushhawg thru deeper cover and you will find some nice ones...good luck!

I beg to differ. I fished Wickiup for Browns 3 years ago with Garrison of Garrison's guide service, and according to him there are very big largemouth in there and they are well fed.

Grab a fly rod and go to Davis. That's what I would do anyways.

Wickiup has some absolute hog largemouth in it but a lot depends on lake level I'm sure.
