Default Loomis/Lamiglas rod blanks?

Does anyone know a better place to get rod blanks than Angler's Workshop in Washington? Somewhere possibly cheaper, or if anyone knows where to get seconds at? I heard a guy saying he gets Loomis seconds somewhere for like $30-50 dollars that are as good as the new ones. Let me know Thanks.

Angler's used to have sales on blems and seconds. But since Loomis changed hands, I guess they're doing things differently now. You might try Great American Tackle - sometimes gary has some clearance stuff. Also, you might try American Tackle or Cabela's.

To my knowledge Loomis does not sell seconds,
Glen Wicks in Creswell sells Lamiglas seconds, I don't have his number but he is in the book.

If you are interested in a Looms, let me know I can save you some money!

As for an inexpensive blank
I would look at the "New" Forecast blanks from Batson.. I just received some and they are awesome! I'm fishing the 1025 and the 1084 and I just built up the new 1026 blank whcih is very nice !!!! worth a look at -$40

I only know of a couple places that sell Lami seconds. Glen Wicks from Creswell area and a place called the rod shop in Kalama. It is right next to the liquor store about 2 blocks from the offramp headed north on I5. He wanted like $25 or $30 a few years ago for the lami seconds.

I have built a few lami seconds, the blems will usually be marked with some tape. I had one break on the marking first trip out :depressed: guess who ever marked it knew what they were looking at, it didnt look structural to me when I bought it. 4 or 5 others held up well.

Gotta second the "Forecast" recommendation. I've built 2 flyrods, and just got three more flyrod blanks. Bought mine on sale, the three current ones were $18 each. 8'6" 4 wt. 3 piece rods, will be great gifts. The two piece 4 wts. that I built this summer cast great, even better if you over line them (I like 5 wt line on them).

I'll try a steelhead model now that I've seen TH's recomendation.

Thanks for the suggestions, I might look one of them up. I'm interested to see those "forecast" blanks, sound good for cheap. Has anyone ever had problems with seconds, or are they usually pretty decent to use? I don't know where the guy I know gets his, but he said he gets the Loomis ones all the time, there is also a guy on Ebay who sells them, but it says no label or warranty so I don't know.

I stay away from seconds....
We have lots of people looking for seconds.. the bottom line people are looking to save money...
These Forecast blanks give you a much better product and still save you $$$$

I fish these Forecast blanks hard! and have great results with them.
You would be suprised at how many I sell right out of the boat on the river.
Guys see them in the boat ask to pick them up and for $90 they are very appealing! In my opinion they are the best thing on the market for under $100

Check them out!
The fly blanks are very nice too...

I've bought a number of seconds from the guy up in Kalama. I paid about $40 for the blank, cork, and guides. Before his dad died, he would give me some great deals on rods since I bought so many of them. I only had 2 of them break on me, but I think that was my fault. PM, or email me if you need contact info. I think he's only open 2 days a week unless you make arangements first.
