Any news on the bank fisherman that fell into the Clack yesterday above Riverside? Search and Rescue, Fire Department, Sheriff Dept., and others were combing the water around 1:30 looking for him. Another bankie said he saw him slide down an embankment, go under once, raised his arms and was never seen again.
That's freakin scary. I've fallen down a slippery bank and into a river and it's a nightmare. And with such cold water the poor guy would have a very tough time. I hope he made it out safely.
Prayers and thoughts to his family if he did'nt, but I'll think positively until we hear otherwise.

I was on the lower clack yesterday when I saw search and rescue boat and the fire department head up that way. I didn't read or see anything about it in the news so far.
Our crews did have a report of a fisherman that had fallen into the river just above Youth Adventures which is approximately a mile above Riverside Park. The Clackamas County Fire District #1 rescue boat was at the location quickly finding nothing. The witness reported that a person had fallen from a 30' cliff and was last seen floundering in the water. Several other marine fire units, the Clackamas County Sheriffs Office and some personal boats joined in the search. Darkness and adverse weather conditions hampered and ultimately stopped the rescue efforts. No reports of missing persons have been received at this time.
We have enjoyed some very mild weather to date and as I peer out of my window I see winter is upon us. Please take extra efforts to be careful when enjoying the water. Lifejackets are often preached and mandated for boaters but bank fisherman go unheeded. The new technology in inflatable life jackets, suspenders and fanny packs hopefully negate much of the reasons that people do not go to life jackets all the time.
Please be safe out there.
