Default What hooks do I use for my jigmould

Have been jig fishing for less than a year now. My boys and I boated four steelhead last Sunday. Two on Amerman cured eggs and two on jigs. I want to start pouring my own jig hooks. What does everyone recomend for hooks and where is the best place to get them. I live in the Eugene area and there are none to be found at the retalers around here.
Thanks Bigjim

bigjim,
I would recommend going with the Owner needle point jig hooks. They are strong and beefy enough for just about anything we'd need them for.
As for where to get them?..... I would contact Mark from First Cast Jigs here on this site. Those Owners are what he uses on his awsome jigs. Perhaps, he could set you up with a supply? I'm sure he could also fill you in on the reasons why he uses them.
Persoanlly, I get mine at Fisherman's Marine Supply. Now I realize you live in Eugene and don't have Fisherman's nearby. So, an alternative may be going online maybe to the Owner Hook website and possibly order some there.
FYI-Yes, the owners work fine in the round head jig mold that I have. Just in case you were wondering.
Hope this helps.
Good luck,
Ragnar

Owner or Gamakatsu both have a good jig hook. If you order them over the internet be sure to get the heavy wire brand. A lot of them out there are for bass fishing and made of light wire.

Don't buy the Owner packs over the internet from Owner. 50 hooks for $25.00. Ouch. If you want a 1000 of them you can contact there sales department and save a lot of money. Works well if you can find some people to go in with you. The hooks are a tight fit in the mold but they work in the standard Do-It round head jig mould. Up to 1/0's and 2/0's in the 1/8th and 1/4th ounce moulds respectively.

As already mentioned. First Cast may be the place to get them.
