SNOW in Salem!!! Drive Safely!!!

Jennie, did you get snow out of this storm? We have 6 inches at my house and 9.5 inches at my dad's house in South Salem hills. hankstr called me and said to be extremely careful out there, or better yet, don't get out in it. He turned around and barely made it back home.

If you plan to fish today, please, please drive safely, and watch out for the other guy! There are lots of accidents out there.

You don't know how bad I love to fish in the snow! The roads are terrible, I can't even make it to work. I drive 30 miles to Wilsonville.

Can't work, can't fish.

I'll be throwing snowballs with my kids, now that's going to be awesome!

Got on the freeway about noon, about got plowed from behind by a motorhome doing probably 80 in a 55

. Next thing, there was 3 multi-car accidents. It took 15 to 20 minutes to get off at the next exit.

My car decided to ice skate for a while on Kuebler. Next thing you know, we are driving down Sunnyside, and there are about 5 trees and one power line down in the road in about a 1/2 mile stretch. Saw Channel 6 news there.

I decided I'm not driving any more today, too dangerous!

Be very careful, if you plan on fishing tomorrow! It's supposed to get in the teens tonight. Black ice, slush, packed snow are everywhere. Plan on double the time or more. Be safe everyone!

A fish isn't worth your life or damaged property.

SKP is right the roads were horrible in the willamette valley Salem area . i slid for a 1/2 mile sideways on my first attempt to get to work this morning . then when i turned down a side street and a transit bus was sideways across 3/4 of the road so i barely squeezed by . then i made a left to head back toward the house and there was a transformer that blew to the left of me then there was a fire truck across the left half of the road ahead of me because a major power line was laying across the road on thats side . i felt like i was in a video game full of obstacle courses. it is still icy right now as i just got in from shopko stay off the road in salem if you don't have to go out.

Man, you guys look at this whole thing wrong. Unfortunatly I have my backhoe torn down for winter maintance. So I threw a couple of tow straps and two chain saws into my suburban. Had a blast cutting trees off the roads and cars and pulling people back on the road. Could have made a mint, but it was too gratifying seeing happy folks.
Going to do the same as soon as I'm done here, then maybe fish in the a.m.. Anyone want to ride along? John 503-551-3914

I went to work today. I-5 was not too bad, but there is a bad patch of black ice just north of Brooks. Again, more black ice from Aurora to Wilsonville. Anywhere you find the road sloping to allow the snow to melt yesterday toward the lanes of travel, are now black ice.

The side streets in Salem are bad. All roads are icy, it was 20 degrees last night in Salem.

Be careful out there!

8 inches of icy snow at my sisters in the South Salem hills. Too nasty to get off the hill to go to work, she had to stay home for the 2nd day. More on the way too as the forecast calls for snow to the valley tonight

Hey guys...a hot buttered rum and then to bed. Gonna go no matter what in the a.m.. It's snow'en as we speak but it can't get much worse then yesterday. Fishin pole and chain saw is about all it should take.
