Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Well my fishing partner and I decided to hit The Clack for our 1st trip this Winter. We met at Barton at 7:30, and I discovered that I had forgotten my eggs. I decided to give the old rubber worms a try, I have caught a few on these in the past under a bobber. My partner had never seen a fish caught on them before, and was making fun of me, for using them. We headed to our favorite side drifting stretch of river and toward the end of our drift I hook up with a chrome bright 10 lb. Native. She was a beautiful fish, I can't believe I left my new digital camera at home. We fished until noon and that was the only fish we got, but it was great to get my buddy to eat a little crow.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Digital cameras... argh.
Yesterday, Bill took a couple pics of me fighting a fish. By the time I landed it, cradled it gently while releasing, he went to take another pic of the fish and me.
Camera batteries dead. ARGH.
Good fishing with those worms! I think I'll add one to a jig this morning!

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
My buddy caught a nice bright hatchery fish drift fishing a rag and black worm last week on the Wilson. I was laughing at him until he made me eat crow (especially since he grabbed the black worm out of my bass tackle on the way out of the house.)

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
I was fishing the Wilson about two weeks ago with a rubber worm and three guys in a drift boat come by and i hear one of the guys say " dude the little mexican guy is using a rubber worm can you believe that?" one of the other guys just laughs. i just smiled and thought what an idiot; one, i am a little island boy not mexican and Two you have no clue!!! I felt like saying just look in the cooler in the back of my truck but i kept all comments to my self. I am glad that not everyone knows about them.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Yes, I witnessed the catching of a 7-8 lb steelie on the Wilson last Friday.
It was a pink worm threaded on a jig head beneath a balsa float.
I am now a believer and will by employing this technique this Friday on the Wilson.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Last Friday on the Wilson I had been fishing a pink and white jig with a sand shrimp tail. When it came time to re-bait I put on one of those new Outlaw Bait Co. Steelie tubes on the jig with some of Marie's shrimp scent. First cast upstream and close to shore, the jig hadn't been in the water 3 seconds and wham!! Bobber Down and this fish head pumps twice, nearly yanking me off the bank and starts a run back toward the Bay. After about 10 seconds and no looking back it broke me off. Steelie tubes look like bubble gum pink hoochies. Let's hear it for fantastic plastic!! Dennis

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Jennie,
I scored some rechargables for my digi after many of the expereinces you speak of. An added bonus is that they come with an AC and a Cig. lighter adapter so you can charge them from you car between holes!
My friends new camera took 3 minutes worth of live movie this morning and didn't drop off full  ... I may make the switch.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
You know, I've got probably half a dozen hotshots in my tackle box and everytime we plug I put out a hot-n-tot diver with a pink worm behind it.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
 Er, um, no I haven't actually caught a fish on this setup. But it's gonna happen, by golly.
In my defense I'd like to say that for all the times that we were plugging no one else's rod went off either.

Re: Never Underestimate the Power of the Worm!
Fished a hole for nearly an hour with nothing to show for it. Put on a 5" bubblegum color worm with a dbl #2 sliding set-up. It wasn't in the water 5 seconds and 'thump' rod plunges down and starts throbbing! Bingo...they work!
