Default Why is this fish pink?

Found this clipped steelhead smolt on the Snake River today. It was jumping out of the water and then swam up to the shore where I grabbed it and took some pictures of it.

He's just another teenager trying to set himself off from the crowd. They will all be pink soon. Then we will have goth fish and heavens know what else. It's time we nip this in the bud! Which they are probably smoking

As you can see through all the pictures these fish are lesser in stature (size) and when around all the other, more mature, fish they become pink with envy.
