New ride for Christmas
Friday was a very long and grueling day, but it was well worth it to pick up my Christmas present, a 2002 18-ft Weldcraft Renegade. Left Boise at 5 am and got home from Yakima at 11:30 pm.
Powered by 4-stroke 100 hp Yami, with 4-stroke 6 hp Yami kicker. Also has a Minkota Autopilot on the front end and great Garmin FF'er and GPS units.
Sweet set up!
Now I need to get serious about selling my bass boat and an extra kicker motor.

Re: New ride for Christmas
Very nice...beautiful boat. You'll like the autopilot electric on the bow. You may want to consider getting the Minnkota Co-pilot adapter for it. Makes the control wireless on a small wrist watch size controller. That's the next toy for my boat. Everyone raves about them on walleyecentral. http://www.walleyecentral.com/dc/dcb...0666&mode=full

Re: New ride for Christmas
Thanks guys,....yeah, I'm anxious to get it slimed and decorated with scales. Hear ya on that extra grand.... next summer I'm going to have to get some fire assignments to get the overtime and $$$$.
Steve, all I could think about when I came back through Umatilla at dusk was the long drive home and worsening road conditions back over the Blues. It was snotty coming over and as expected conditions were even worse on the return - thank God for studded snow tires and 4x4 [high 4x] that helped me pull up a couple grades.
I'll need to finish out that light bar so I can join the "Pimpmobile" evening flotilla next fall- unless the local gestapo shuts that activity down.

Re: New ride for Christmas
FM - you're right on the Co-Pilot, that's been on my wish list since I first started looking at new boats, so I was really pleased that this boat was already set up with the MinnKota AP. Had an opportunity to see it in action on Fear No Fish's boat this past September and it is a slick set up.
Then there's electric Scotty downriggers, VHF radio, finish rigging up the light bar, and other assorted fun projects.

Very nice ride. I will have to keep a look out for you around Boise. As soon as I am done with my project boat I will post pictures of it. Now its time to go get scales all over it.

Dean,
Wipe off the slobber, and haul it down. We can troll Strike and catch a slime rocket or 2. I'll even let you catch the first one  . That is just what you were looking for. I'm stoked for getting some fish blood on her...

Re: New ride for Christmas
Nice set up! I also have the auto pilot on the bow-that is one of the greatest inventions yet! If you act quickly, minn kota has a promotion that ends 12-31-03. If you buy the co-pilot for the auto pilot you can get a second remote for free (well, just pay $5 for shipping).
The only problem I have with the auto pilot is when in rough water. The gyro gets off tilt and goes berserk. I found that filling the fishwell with water weighs the bow enough to stabilize it enough to avoid some of the hassle.
Congrats on your new rig!

Born to Fish:
Here I had you in my dealership and I didn't even know that you were an ifish member. I apologize that I didn't have more time to spend with you when you were here. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you regarding the boat.
Thank you for your business and your patience.
Sincerely,

Re: New ride for Christmas
Dear Mr. Born to Fish,
I would like a ride in your new boat. I can already see it cruising the swells at Sekiu. Mr. BTF don't play around. Maybe this will be an example for Dusty Reel.

Re: New ride for Christmas
Empire - thanks for the tip on the Co-Pilot deal. I'll follow up on that.
FNF - while I am very happy for the Packers' win, I have to admit that I was quite surprised by the Viking's last minute lose to the Cards. I was actually prepared to cheer for the Vikings in the playoffs.
Dan, I really appreciate the service you provided - it was a pleasure doing business with you and your dealership. That was a nice walleye on your office wall. The one pictured in my avatar is a 15-1/4 lb'er I caught and released below McNary in Sept., 2002.
Dear Mr, Denali, you are quite correct that this is indeed a Sekiu salmon slayer. I would be most happy to provide a ride when the opportunity occurs, but for now I am most anxious to put much steelhead blood and slime in Mojo's sled, and possibly yours in the Eastside Floatilla on the Clearwater in a couple weeks.
Dusty Reel, if you're lurking around out there, I'd be most happy to provide more pictures to encurage you pursuit of the ultimate dream machine.
Thanks again everyone for your kind words and encouragement.
Dean
