Vacuum Packer advice
Good day after Christmas. I received a gift certificate for Christmas and I would like to spend it on a vacuum packer. I am on a budget, so I have to keep it under $200. What are the best ones out there in that price range?
Thank you for all of your help.

Re: Vacuum Packer advice
I have been using the Tilla Professional II for several years with no problems.
* Has vaccum over-ride enabling greater suck down.
* Has time control on the sealing element.
* Or operate in fully auto mode.
Bags are costly but available at COSTCO and Albertsons.
Have used the Tila household models available at COSTCO in Portland but found them to be unreliable when sealing large quantites of product, nor did they have the controls over modes of operation. Burned two of these up on trips to Alaska.
Found the Professional II at COSTCO in Anchorage.
Call Tilla or go on line and look at the heavey duty Professional series.
Good Luck!

Re: Vacuum Packer advice
My Tilla vac packer is over 12 yrs old and still works great. I have used some of the "auto" models and I like the manual ability better. The auto modles seemed to heat the seal too much and didn't always get a perfect vaccume. IF it was me I would check out e-bay... I have heard that the early models (mine) we actually made in italy and have different componets than the later models, but I do not know that for a fact. Good luck.....

Re: Vacuum Packer advice
One more tip. When vac-packing items I like to quick freeze them first. It cuts down on the liquid and I get a tighter package. Good Luck

Re: Vacuum Packer advice
wd, I also have the 1200...your gonna like it!...you can fold up a paper towel and put on top of wet items( near the seal)... to keep unit from sucking up liquid which you don`t want.try vacuuming an aluminum can, kinda neat.
