Wind River Springer Derby 5/10 w/ FNF, pic

I had the pleasure of fishing with Fear no Fish Steve today in his boat for the Wind/Drano Springer Derby. 10$ entry fee with the biggest getting 500$ and 2nd getting 250$. Well FNF ends up placing 5th with a 22lber. He wone a nice painting of a salmon. We ended the day 3 for 4.

we hooked all the fish on spinners (wire and prawn spinner style, no prawn) with 4 oz lead on the bottom. the water has warmed to 54 degrees F. Not many boats (75) but the wind blew all day. action was consistent but not hot. we quit at 3:30 pm to go to the weigh in.

Steve has 75 springers to the boat. the last 3 days his boat has hooked 4 fish over 30lbs on spinners. it was a nice way to end the Wind season.

Hey it was 4th place with a 20 pound Springer! I will try to scan the painting to post here. It was the best Springer fishing of my life! 74 Springers and 1 Steelhead, numerous smolts, 1 ********* and 1 big freshwater clam came to the boat this year! I will be posting some big hog pictures soon. Gotta go see my mama!
