Default Lost Knife Story with Happy X-mas Ending

Well some may remember my "Lost Knife at Sollie" thread from October.

My friend Mark lent me his folding pocket knife (Buck light 3.5" blade) on the ramp at Sollie. I somehow walked off and left it on the beach :depressed:

Later that evening, having dinner with him and Fishbait, Mark asked where it was, I felt bad when I realized what I had done. Then Fishbait says "Oh, is that the one I gave you as a wedding present, the one inscribed with "HIS" to match his bride's "HERS"... :depressed: :depressed: I felt about 1" tall.

I posted a thread here, put up signs at the Guide Shop and Marie's, and at Sollie.

About 3 weeks later, a guy called and said he had picked up the knife, and was back at Sollie that day. When he was leaving he ran in to "a little girl who was asking everyone about the knife". He said if it weren't for that girl, he'd have never seen the sign or knew.

So it took him a few weeks to find where he had it. It arrived in yesterday's mail and my daughter brought it in to me today

I will mail the "reward" to the girl as requested by the finder. He sent me her name and address.

So, Mark gets his wedding gift back, a little girl gets a reward, a nice man gets major Kudo's, and I get off the hook (a little).

Thanks to those from this board who were concerned, and all the nice folks involved.

Merry Christmas and Blessings in the New Year to all.

Everytime I see one of these lost or found posts here, I keep an eye on it hoping that the property will make its way back to its rightful owner. Congrats on a successful return!!

I was wondering about the knife since I haven't heard if you wanted mine to replace it or not. Well all is well then. Blessed be the knife returner. Mike

WOW, is that way cool or what. I'll tell you that one of the nicest things I got for Christmas this year was the phone call from GRB telling me he had the knife in his hands. Just made me feel good about this world we live in. Good people all around, and Bruce (GRB) has shown me just what kind of a person he is. Many people would have just shrugged off loosing a friends knife and done nothing about it. But he stepped up, took responsibility and took some agressive action and as a result of HIS efforts and those of many other people Mark has his knife back. Cudos to the finder and I wish I could see the smile on that little girls face when she opens Bruces letter, this will most likely be a lesson that she carries with her for the rest of her life. Absolutely just made my Christmas and Bruce I am proud to know you and call you a friend...... Merry Christmas...Steve
