Re: fire line by berkley
I use 14lb on my steelhead bobber/jig set-up, works great for me. Easy to see and floats nice. Boy it's sure tough line!
Good luck

Re: fire line by berkley
I use it in the 14# also. The tuffline xp 20# in yellow is hard to beat IMO.

yup - 14# here too for bobber/jig on a spinning reel. Now if I only would take more time to chase steelies so I could catch one...........

Re: fire line by berkley
How well does it cast small offerings, say a Thill turbo master float and a 1/8 oz jig?

Re: fire line by berkley
It will cast that rig just fine.
fortywinks, some of us have to work or a least occupy an office space anyway.

Re: fire line by berkley
I use the 14# on a spinning rod for steelies. Good line. Not as abrasion resistant as Tuff Line xp though. A tough mono leader helps.

Re: fire line by berkley
Stren is touting its new "super braid" that apparently is a step up from the others, so it may be worth checking out. Haven't heard any reviews, or even seen it in stores. Its now available thru Basspro catalog.

Re: fire line by berkley
I would use fireline more if the stuff held up better after many casts. it tends to get worn out faster than the spectra braids.

Re: fire line by berkley
James, I prefer it when it starts to turn whitish/grey. It gets limper and seems to cast even better....

Re: fire line by berkley
yup
I have the 14# on my spinning rods, 20# on my casting rods..
But I recently bought a bulk spool of 50# Tufline XP
Spooled a couple reels up with that and have been very impressed!
I may switch out my casting reels withthe XP

Re: fire line by berkley
Tried it a few years ago, found it to be too stiff.
I have been using 30lb. power pro since, flings those # 2 spinners a mile.

Re: fire line by berkley
It will cast that fine. I found the the tuffline xp works better for small lures. Just my $0.02
