Default Coho ho ho!

Finally I can put my planer away!!!

I had to catch a fish on it.

I finally nailed a bright red, beautiful coho today on a planer and a pink wiggle wart.

I do NOT like fighting fish with plastic planers on my line! It feels so unnatural!
I had to do it, though... and I did.

I don't know, something about a big piece of plastic hanging on my line, somehow separates that "live" feeling. In fact, I almost didn't realize I had a fish on!
Finally, a splash came out of the water, and yip! Fish on!

It's good to see Coho back in the Kilchis. I have seen more Coho this year than ever. The chum run was a little thin, compared to last year.

Anyhow,
Happy coho ho ho! to you...
and Spring Chinookies are near!

Jen

HO coho, no planers never work and you should never use them expecially anywhere boats can't go like in the upper parts of rivers. You should probably give them to me and I will make sure no one uses them. hahahahaha cohohohohoho
Christmas fish how lucky (blessed) can you be to live on such a beautiful river with fish at your door step. Doesn't get much better. Congrats on your fish today. Call when you want to get rid of the side planer

Yes, lucky and blessed I am. I do love living on the river, that's for certain!

For some reason, I cuss that planer, but I can't leave it alone. Does it work? You bet!

Does it irritate me? You bet!

One of the things that bother me is that you can't feel the vibration of the lure very well, because the planer keeps grabbing the water.

I don't know. It's kind of like flying a kite, with a fish as a bonus. But then, aren't fish always a bonus?

What's really nice is that I can put the rod down in a holder, and throw a frisbee a while with Kilchis, and then go back and fiddle with the placement, set it down... go hunt for agates... It's a blast!

That Coho in the red suit was really the Saint Nicklebright. At least you let him finish giving out the Christmas presents to all the fish buddies, with Rudolph the Red Nosed Steelhead!

I've tried extensive use with a side planer years ago, I too was going to catch a fish on it. I gave up.

Good job Jen and Merry Christmas.

I gather that was one of those late returning wild coho.
Yes they are making an impressive comeback and it is great to see.

Was that fish caught on one of those Brad's Wiggler's the #29 that you referred to as a pink one earlier this year when you caught one or two late winters on?
Or was it a Wart?

I just got back from the Kalama where I made a dozen cast with the BW-29 and nothing.
But no one else was catching anything either on eggs or jigs.
Just didn't have your Christmas luck with me.

I've never tried a planer even though I know they work very well.
Just seems like a hassle to me.

Merry Christmas,

Dano

I would never have guessed the Kilchis got a poor silver run. There's zillions of them up above the park. Good job on the fish. How blessed you are Jennie. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

Yes, the Kilchis has had, in the past, a very small run of Coho. They are rebounding, and yes, I have seen the coho above the park! They are awesome!!!

Yes, Born to be wild, it was on the 29 Brad's wiggler. I want MORE of those! I'm not sure it was the 29... You gave me two pinks, one small and one larger. Which one is the larger? That was the one. I lost my small one. :depressed:
