Fuel efficiency

I guess there is something to be said for a smaller boat / 4-stroke engines. I have a custom built 16' center console boat with a 40hp Honda and a 5hp Honda for trolling. The hull design is similar to a 16' C-Dory. Well, after our annual 4 day Coon Island pilgrimmage, I went to re-fill my gas tank. Covered abou 40+ river miles with the bigger motor running back and forth and trolled with the five hp for well over 20 hours. Fuel comsumption......... 4.2 gallons!

i wish mine got that good.i figuired mine at 2 miles a gallon@ 30mph.sounds like you got a keeper! NS :grin:

We get about the same (2 mpg) on our 200hp Yamaha on our 20' Glas-Ply Not to bad for a big boat. That is crusing at about 30 as well.
