Default Sandy River Limit! ...well, almost

Hit the Sandy at the crack of 10:15am this morning (sick kid, dead battery, Les Schwab visit, etc; actually surprised an earthquake didn't happen as well). Spinner fished up to 'my magic spot' and switched to a corky/egg combo. 30 minutes of nothing later I switched over to my steadfast #4 customized Blue Fox. First cast, fish on - all 24" of it (hatchery hen; adipose clipped w/ morphed dorsel). I bled the fish, cast again and was hammered but missed it. Nothing for the next 15 minutes. Switched back to eggs for awhile - nothing. Switched back to the BF and was hammered on the first cast with nothing to show for it. Second cast, again hammered. Third cast - STICK. There's nothing like seeing snow bellied silver twisting under water - the memory kind of sticks with you for awhile. And that's all it was. All five seconds of it. It looked to be around 10 lbs. Landed a 12-13" trout or smolt on the way back and had one more good take (and miss) after that. Talked with one gentleman bobber fishing for a bit. What was ironic was that he had made a cast and as it was drifting along, I said 'it's really cool to that bobber dive when they take it' just as his bobber dives under. He had it on for no more than a couple of seconds but it made for a good laugh! The 20,000 cfs blowout cleared alot out of the river as well as distributed silt in areas I haven't seen it in before. LOTS of rigs parked along the river today so I would assume others are hitting the fish as well (just not posting about it).

What part of the Sandy did you fish. Sounds like a good trip though....I wish I was out there.

I just finished my morning run through Oxbow park. I started at the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and went past the boat ramp about half a mile. The park is deserted. I saw two people fishing the boat ramp (pickup had an IFISH sticker), but beyond that, there wasn't anyone. Kind of makes me think the hatchery run on the sandy either hasn't arrived, or will be a bit puny this year. Not that I ever do well for them.

I don't know about Oxbow; I'm fishing alot higher up and away from everyone (I should change my moniker to 'Golum' ). Dodge Park yesterday looked like a funeral procession has just broke down before crossing the bridge (more than likely fishing the 'pipeline hole', again, an area I purposely avoid). The park was loaded up with rigs and the standard beach crowd were present minus the SPF 30 and beach ball which was last seen floating down Eagle Ck. FINS TO THE LEFT !!!

Chuckdog, sounds like a good #%&$@ day! Knew I should have blown off work and gone with you (my battery is a solid 14v,we would have had aother 2 hours  ). Any problems with navigation of the river?

It WAS navigable, but only because I could still see the bottom, except on the way back - it was like walking on the moon going downstream - One small cast for me, one giant leap by fishkind. ...hey, is that Evan those guys got going in those mugs?!#@! Aiiiieeeyyyee!!!
