steelheader667,

Welcome to ifish.net!

However, it's customary that your first post introduces yourself with a fishing story. It's not mandatory, but fun!

Usually, people remain zipper lipped, until you introduce yourself, but I'll answer your question.

The Santiam system get steelhead year round. The best times for winters are Feb-April and best times for Summers are May-November in my opinion.

The winter run is mainly natives, and the summer run is mainly hatchery. A few strays do exist.

SKP

Mostly depends which river your on. North fork Santiam is high but water is great looking if you know where the fish are. Floated yesterday and was a great ride, but not real productive for fish. South I am not real sure where hot spots are when river is up. Heard of a few fish caught on the lil' north fork, but it was locals that would not talk. If we don't get a lot of water, I would say, North Santiam park and that stretch. I am off to the Siletz and the Big Elk. I know their catching fish there Good fishin' and Merry Christmas

Wasn't me that put in, but was a couple of renters on my RapidCat pontoons . They did not fish just were trying out, to see what size would work best for them for Steelhead and Salmon fishing. They used my 12 ft. and another 10ft. to see which they liked the best. They floated from Mill City to Stayton. Had a great ride and really fast. Took them about 3 1/2 hrs on the water. Loved the ride and stability of the 12' Merry Christmas

Nice to meet ya! Stop in sometime at my shop, and take a look. I have some set up with a rod holder for pullen' plugs. The one you saw was my boat that I use. Most dlx pontoons that I build have foot release anchor system. Have a Merry Christmas! They call me-Bruce
