Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Any of you guys mount up a cd player in a stryker? Where did you put it? Where did you mount your speakers? I bought myself one of those clarion xmd1 cd players for the boat and I'll be picking up some speakers this week. Any thoughts on speakers? Just want sound nothing obnoxious(sp)
Thanks
Kris

Re: Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Most times that I have seen stereos in boats, the speakers were mounted in aluminum enclosures fabricated to hold them. There really isn't a great place to put them straight into a boat (but I son't know about Strykers in particular). If you do not want to add enclosures, I'd probably look at the seat boxes.
Music in the boat sure is nice. I expecially like the theme from Apocalypse Now, with a lot of amplifyers backing it up

Now the hog line will never get a moment's peace. Music should be banned from the waterways.

Actually Steve, they like silence, alone and Pink Floyd.
You gotta' have tunes overnight, huh Scott?
Kris, search the web. There are various "marine stereo" set ups.

Re: Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Kris, make sure the speakers are for a marine application. I have a radio/cd player in my boat. The radio is fine when under power. The cd player tends to skip when running up the rougher sections of rivers. Make sure you can take the cd unit out when you leave the boat! You dont want someone to accidently borrow it!

Re: Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Not a Stryker (Intruder) but we put or CD player under the dash, passenger side along the side of the gunwale. Speakers are marine, with brackets mounted underneath the gunwales between the front and rear seats.
And sturgeon LOVE grunge and lower bass.

If you play Purple Haze at the right volume the fish will jump into the boat with you. Then at twice that volume follow up and play Crosstown Traffic and they fillet themselves. Everyone in the Hog line on the Willamette knows Hendrix catches the most fish.

Re: Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Amazing KK, I thought that was my own secret. I was trolling outside of garibaldi last yr and things were real slow, I popped in electric ladyland and the fish fairly swarmed my boat. My partner now asks if I have it on board before we head out. John Prine works well too.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Tweeties. The gentle rustle of the summer breeze. The call of the loon. The low moan of the electric motor. Waves gently lapping at the hull. The sound of line tearing off the reel.
Now that is music!

Jeez Thumper, you brought a tear to my eye. You are starting to write like Jennie. You would do anything for chocolate cake! Ya know, I don't think I have ever seen you land a fish. Have you ever caught a fish? How do you know what line sounds like coming off a reel? Lets get ready to RUMBLE! Oh yea, Bring on the Wind Springers!

Re: Cd player in an alumaweld stryker?
Phil, the one pic I would like to see is the only one that doesn't load up. Oh well. Thanks for the replies. No need to worry I'm not gonna crank it up so everyone can hear it. I'd just like to be able to listen to the mariners games during springer season and if they aren't playing listen to a little rock and roll. I'm a very considerate person so don't sweat me none.
