Default Willamette Falls Fish Count Needs Updating!

Wow, I'd sure like the Willamette Falls Fish Counts Updated, they are a month old. I wonder how many winter steelhead are going south into the Willamette Valley?

Here's the website I'm talking about:

Willamette Falls Fish Passage Report

Any know who to call?

They are extremely slow to update that thing. Its great if you want to know what happened a month or so ago.

It would be nice if they could actually give us fisherpeople some good info!

I looked at the data from the previous years, the most steelhead pass the oregon city dam from mid February to march 31, more then 500 per day is a great number.

Yes, they are really slow at updates. The Willamette Falls number is (503)-657-2000ext399. The phone line is slow too, but not quite as bad.

This is definitely one of my pet peeves. They need to do something about this. It seems to get worse every year. If I knew who to complain to, I would.

Steelheaders have been working with potential volunteers from Sandy Chapter and McLoughlin Chapter to help with the posting of the counts and shorten the delay. It is a staffing and budget problem. The volunteer coordinator is out of the office until Jan. 2, and more contact will be made then. The time delay is a big problem for anyone who enjoys fishing in the entire Willamette Valley. The biology staff at Clackamas office is aware of the problem, and we expect to work something out, hopefully this winter. If you need the name and number of the office, let me know. Bill Sanderson
