Take the Old Bag Fishing
Got your attention? I'm talking about an old plastic shopping bag you know the ones with the handles, I started doing this last year so I had something to put garbage in, they take up no room and are light, should have had 2 today . I fished the upper Wilson MP16 to Lees camp no zipper lip holes just the usual pull-outs. It was gross how much garbage was laying around mostly fishing related stuff :depressed: . I felt alot better after cleaning up the spots I fished. Try it you will too. Seen lots of salmon around so the spawn should have been good this year. Landed 2 hatchery Steelhead 1 summer, 1 winter and let them both go after all its Christmas. Lost 1 other winter fish that just chewed me up and spit me out, hot fish. Seriously people we really need to watch the garbage, bottles etc. leave the river cleaner than you found it, they aren't making any more so we need to take care of the ones we have. Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

Nothing wrong with picking up after ourselves. We should. Unfortunately its all to often we are not only picking up after ourselves but others as well. And they wonder why some of our favorite private bank access areas we once were allowed to fish, are now KEEP OUT!!!.
Clean up yall, Its the least we can do right??

Re: Take the Old Bag Fishing
Jennie, so far the "little woman" has not wanted to Steelhead fish. Which is good for me since she really spanked me on Fall fish trolling this year, and almost caught as many Coho up in Alaska as well. Its all good though, I get more kick out of WATCHING her land 1 as landing 10 on my rod (ok, all most, maybe). I gets pretty bad when even your buddys kid you about how many fish your wife gets. One weekend she fished with friends while I was back in DC working and had the nerve to call and tell me she got 2 fish --and how was your weekend. Ouch that hurts.

Re: Take the Old Bag Fishing
I learned of this practice from good looking blonde who was "doing it" right there in front of me! After getting over the initial shock of this really fine looking lady, bent over, picking up trash, I got to thinking a little past my original thoughts, and started bringing my own bag . What a difference just five minutes makes! Another time, the hole I was fishing was "invaded" by one of the California so and so's. He fished for about a half an hour and before he left, he filled his landing net up with trash! It was one of the big nets too. He went from a California so and so to a "pretty good ole boy" in about five minutes. That's how long it took him to fill his net. Let's all make a difference next time we're out. Happy Holidays......

Good practice been doing the same for several years. I won't buy shrimp if its in a styrofoam container as it can be blown away or get broken then end up on our beaches or in our rivers. We are our own worst enemy clean up after your self and leave the area with only footprints.
