Snow and the Skunk
I had to get out and fish Thursday, all that white stuff took me back to my first encounter with steel. My first steelie ever was hooked on a cold January morning at Dabny park in the driving snow. It was a good omen when I woke up and I had the feeling it was gonna be a banner day. My buddy and I fished Eagle Creek after over an hours drive to get there, it usually takes 30 minutes. We jump out of the truck to perfect river conditions and a river void of other anglers. The frantic rush to get ready and be the first in the water is won by myself. The first cast is made, then the second, third and so on. The snow is still falling and my fingers are starting to freeze but I know there is a fish out there with my name on it. Well it wasn't our day, we fished a solid 5 hours at various spots on EC and didn't touch a fish. But just being out on the river on such a beautiful day reminds me of why I live here in the great Northwest. How did you other die hards do in the snow, how have you done in the snow in the past? Well I am gonna go tie up some more rigs for my next white adventure, this time there will be fish included.
