Wader Odor
I know that I can not be the only one who has thought about this issue. One thing that prevents me from going bird hunting or fishing before work or before a meeting with a client is the fear of the stench from wearing neoprene waders. I've tried several things, but have not yet come up with an adequate means of preventing this, short of finding some place to shower in between. Any ideas here?
Thanks,
ORS

Re: Wader Odor
You're not missing out on much as far as fishing before work. I tried it once. It was the most depressing thing in the world to have to go to work after having spent a few hours in the great outdoors.
Supposedly, Bounce dryer sheets will take the stink out of anything. Drop a few in your waders while they're in storage and see if that helps.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Well, it depends. I have several clients in Cetnral Oregon. I can not go over there without my fly rod. Most I the time I try to schedule my appointments to allow for a couple hours on the Mighty D. I've done it before, but have ended up being " Mr. too much cologne wearer" afterward.
Thanks for the tip! I may have to try that.

Re: Wader Odor
Two words. Breathable waders. If its cold, wear fleece pants under them. Cold-blooded me has never had a problem. No stink, no cold, no worries.

Re: Wader Odor
Got this from ifish a couple three years back... the stench from the waders may not be the waders but the build up of your own BO  Sorry, but we all know what you mean.Anyway here's what to do: Put on your waders inside out, Step into the shower with dishwashing liquid(Dawn, Lemon Joy)and a soft brush(upholstry brush is great). Now with water running and soap liberally applied scrub away!Pay attention especially to all those tight spots that sweat or really hold in the heat(groin area). You then rinse, hang to dry inverted and you won't believe the difference! Do as needed some of us wear those "closer" that others and some fish more(and/or with more exertion) than others.

Re: Wader Odor
I think if you wear neoprenes, your gonna sweat, And someones gonna smell it..... I dont know a sure cure for that. Sorry.
It is one of those things ya have to deal with.
They do have some very nice portable heated showers available on the market.

Re: Wader Odor
As said, "light weights" I have been in them all day with fleece pants. No smell here. You can wash your waders in the tub. It does not hurt them.

Re: Wader Odor
OregonRedside,
There is a product from SeaYu Petrotech, unscented "Odor Eliminator." Web site http://www.sea-yu.com/products.html is for the mist spray (which is probably better than the direct spray for what you need it for). It is supposed to work even for skunk odor. It has worked on everything I've used it on. It has my wife's endorsement and she would not be without it. Fortunately, I have not yet had to use it for skunks. Check out their web site.
