My son's first springer Part 3 (with pics)
Got the boys up at O'dark thirty to do some springer damage. Also took best friend and neighbor. The boat launched and started today (unlike last weekend). Got to our favorite secret spot only to find someone trying to anchor there. So we anchored above. We stayed all day and threw everything in the tackle box at 'em. Spare link decided he will try a variation of Drachir's secret (use a third hook and thanks Rick) and put a blue/silver alvin ABOVE a prawn spinner
Well here is the result...
a nice 25# buck. And here is Missing Link's face (wishing it was his)
Guess what, I think all split rings are being replaced this week
The alvin had a herring butter spread
My boy got himself a fish
I love it when he out fishes me! I think we need to change his moniker to Jerred Springer
Now to get Missing Link his first.

Way to go Safety Chain!! Looks like he had a battle on his hands with that one. You seem to be a good coach as you have the pics to prove it.
Congrats,
 Smily

Safety Chain,
Nice Fish!
I had about the same experience last fall with the a wobbler. The fish was able to open the split ring and proceeded to take my new cutting point hook. I have replaced all my split rings on both ends of the wobblers.

Re: My son's first springer Part 3 (with pics)
Well at least w/ the double outfit, you got a nice Springer for your son. Without the double, what do you think, yes or no? I think it just gives you better odds @ finding someting the fish want to go after.

Re: My son's first springer Part 3 (with pics)
I give him an A for the fish but only a B on presentation. however he makes up for that with the extra credit for having to deal with cheap split rings. good job J.
