From last year's posts:
Please come on down to the coast and join us in the annual Tillamook Anglers Fin clipping day!
Dress extremely warm!
Bring the family!
It is an education, fun time!
It is taking place at The Whiskey Creek Hatchery which is located on Netarts Bay, 2 miles north of Cape Lookout State Park.
I did a look up on Cape Lookout State Park, and came up with these directions from Portland:
1: Start out going West on WILSON RIVER HWY towards OR-6 by turning left. 4.5 miles
7.2 (km)
2: WILSON RIVER HWY becomes OR-6. 0.5 miles
0.8 (km)
3: OR-6 becomes WILSON RIVER HWY/OR-6 W. 0.2 miles
0.3 (km)
4: WILSON RIVER HWY/OR-6 W becomes 1ST ST/OR-6 W. 0.2 miles
0.4 (km)
5: 1ST ST/OR-6 W becomes 1ST ST/US-101 N/OR-6 W. 0.1 miles
0.1 (km)
6: Turn LEFT onto MAIN AVE/US-101 S. 0.1 miles
0.2 (km)
7: Turn RIGHT onto 3RD ST. 0.7 miles
1.1 (km)
8: 3RD ST becomes NETARTS HWY. 4.2 miles
6.8 (km)
9: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto WHISKEY CR RD. 5.1 miles
8.2 (km)
10: WHISKEY CR RD becomes CAPE LOOKOUT RD. 0.0 miles
0.0 (km)
11: You're in the vicinity of the state park. Look for the state park shield or name on a sign along the roadway.
If you decide to join us, why not take it a step further and fill out
Tillamook Angler's Membership Form! Or, you can sign on the dotted line, there at the hatchery.
You'll see your dollars at work, we promise!
People often ask, "What can I do?"
This is a great way to start!
-----------------------
"Follow the signs to Cape Look Out State Park. At every intersection there will be a sign that says FISH with an arrow. If you get to the state park you have gone 2 miles too far."
I would dress VERY warm. We will be under cover however but the wind will blow though the area where we will be.
Waterproof boots are a must. I have bib rain pants so I wont need the coat. There should be no slime at all. If there is something is wrong, it's NOT fillet and release.
I think Jerry was going to get latex gloves and that may help keep your hands semi warm. I dont like them cuz I dont have the feel.
There is an area that is heated and you'll be able to warm up inside. Staying dry is the key. Dont let the weather scare you away. You wont get rained on and we need your help. With enough help we're usually done by 2 or 2:30.
Wear your ifish hats and waterproof boots and rain pants!!!!
See ya there!
