Smile Rate a guide

Since I just moved back to the PNW and am getting back into fishing since 1994. I am wondering who the best guides are? Please rate your top 3 you have fished with and rate by politeness, knowledge, fish caught & enjoyment of trip for Salmon & Steelhead.

If you could include the guides web link also that would be great.

I am thinking of booking a trip with David Johnson.

To the guides feel free to boast about yourself and drop your web link.

To keep things simple and not raise too much troubles, just go with any ifish guide. They're all good, know the rivers, etc. You won't have any troubles with any of them.

I'm not trying to be rude. But this horse has been killed way to many times on this site. There is plenty of information, If you get time try the history on this site and you will get plenty of opinions and discussion.

Good Luck.

I have a guide anchored beside me now with three clients and banker bells on all his rods. It's the same guide who used buzz bombs last year here. He just chucked them out and let them sit on the bottom. I could asked for his number if you like.

These threads should be against the AUP, fishing is fishing. All the ifish guides are good and one could out fish another on any given day.

Some of the posters on ifish need a reality check, what's next a fantasy guide league??

I agree that many of the iFish guides are good. I've seen good reviews of Nordling, Bowles, Johnson and Salvey. I also think that the AUP is reasonable to restrict link/contact info to guides outside their list given that site sponsorship relies on internal support.

However, I also think it would be too restrictive to not be able to say that Ed Fast or Jack/Brandon Glass are not also excellent candidates. Heck, I've seen Ed post here and he is a respected member. To make restrictions that limit exchange of fishing information too strictly seems to defeat the purpose of the site.

But, I also see that eventually, a thread like this could just become a listing of most all major guides, where it just becomes a 'fantasy guide' draft, too.

Fished with Chris last fall and he worked his arse off to get us into fish! Fishing was tough but we had our opportunities!

I've been out with several of the ifish guides, and I feel like Chris worked the hardest and felt like I was fishing with a buddy and not hiring a guide to take me fishing!

You will have a great WS trip with Brandon. I know him personally and know for a fact he has 20+ days side drifting for WS on the Sandy/Clack if the fish are there. He is a side drifting guru.................

I have gone with several "Big name" guides and have been incredibly disappointed. Just because they market themselves well does NOT mean they are worth spending the day with. I have gone with other Big name guides and had a great time.

Ed Fast is an awesome guy to fish with, Bob Toman, Jeremy Toman, Jack Glass, Chris Nordling - lots of good guys out there, dont get stuck in the Hype though when choosing where to spend your money.

After winning raffles, tournaments, and getting groupons for guided trips.
Its always hard getting the guides to book trips when they have cash clients.
Forgetting who you are and saying they always booked doesn't reflect well I know they were giving the money to a charitable cause. Those that offer groupons are creating bad karma by saying they are booked until next year.
I will get my money back from the groupons but never do that again.
I will continue give to charities in Tillamook. Even if it involves Guides good intentions,I just will not expect a trip if I win. I just hope the money went were it was intended.
Just saying Guides have good intentions like fishing you don't just don't always catch fish.
This post will probably not be read at the bottom of the post.
I don't think I am flaming anyone as I didn't mention names.
