I spent the morning dodging slinkies at the hatchery. There was a decent bite but apparently I sucked because I couldn't buy a bite.
I had guys all around me hook fish and I just donated tackle. Around noon I ran down to visit with Ron before I headed home with tail firmly between legs when I had an idea.
I jawed with Ron a bit then ran back up the creek aways by the "S" curves and got out my trusty bobber rod with my favorite First Cast jig with a pink 3 1/2 inch seducer worm. Third cast, bobber down!
The fight was on, that fish darn near kicked my arse. Thank goodness for power pro line with 20# leader. I cinched down the drag on my lucky Okuma and yarded that baby back up through the riffle he had run down and landed him. He was slightly colored though still with sea lice. 37" long, we guessed around 15 or 16#.
At that point my day was made so I beat tracks for the home front. Lots of company this morning, I imagine tomorrow will be much worse.
