Ambassador 7000 & 7001

I saw the new Ambassador 7000 series reel for the first time yesterday. Offered in right and left handed models which is nice. Nice reel for keeper sturgeon, but pricy! Lots of line capacity but at $129.00 you are better off with a Penn. I will stick with the Penn 321! Great reel!!!

I got mine on sale for 99 bucks. They are great reels and look forward to putting many a sturgeon/salmon on it. I mainly purchased it for ocean trolling and fishing the rockpile for deep nooks and halibut.

I have a 7000C4 Lever Drag.... I absolutely love it!! 300 yds of 65lb Tuf XP, kind of a "do it all" reel. Good for salmon trolling, not too heavy for non-stop shaker sturgeon action, while having more guts than the 6000 series for the occasional peeler you may hook while fishing keepers.

Have to get one of the new 7001's for my wife, it's not lever drag, but it will be good for her...she hates right-handed reels.
