Default 1-10 sturgeon trip

As predicted, the Cathedral park boat ramp was just fine, no issues. The water was good, the weather was better than expected, and the fishing was great once we found them, several keepers. It was great to meet several other ifishers who also seemed to have a great day.

Nice meeting you goodkarma, as promised here is the picture of you battling your "monster" (he said it was 47", but I think it was only about 30"). Just kidding, good job on the keepers, you guys had a great day as well!

GoodKarma definately had the hot rod in the boat. It was the only thing keeping hope alive there for awhile.

I did manage to finally hook up with a decent keeper (47") before the day was over. Here's a pic back at the house.

Other than that fish, I maybe hooked 3 other shakers for the whole day. This was the first time I decided to move the boat to a new spot because we weren't getting any bites. Normally I move around because we aren't getting enough fish or too many small ones. Oh well, got a throw in a humbling day like that once in awhile in order to appreciate the good ones. Finishing the day with 2 keepers did help with forgetting the slow morning.

Here's a pic of some fellow hardcore ifisher's that we met at the ramp and then again out on the water.

I'll throw up some more pics once I collect them. (We had 4 different camera's in the boat, and mine ended up staying in the case most of the time)

Thanks DBLUGIL! I meant to mention that in my previous post but forgot. I saw his post about this late on friday night. Thanks to seeing this, I was able to sleep easy friday night.

A couple of my crew (dudester and goodkarma)did some more shovelling work to the ramp before we put it just to make it easier for us and anyone else to follow. Amazingly enough when we were taking out another boat was taking out on the downriver side of the ramp (the one that wasn't shoveled)??? Apparently some people don't get enough adventure in their lives.

Hope everyone got in and out safely yesterday. Nice to see everyone chipping on stuff like this.

Thanks Sublime and Wood n Fish. Here's a couple more of the crew.

-shot of dudester with one of his bigger shakers

-Doug had the unfortunate luck of being on the non-hot side of the boat, but he did manage a few decent shakers.

-And of course goodkarma, who had the hot side the boat.

Here's another shot of my 47" keeper but while still in the boat.

Fishing was slow, but it was still a good day on the water - better than sitting at home watching the ice melt!

Well we were generous and let you have all of those little fish below us!

Good job on the gators, and thanks for the pic of my boat, I've got it set as wallpaper on my computer at work now. It was a great day to be out there.

See you on the water,
Scott

Lookin' good, boys!

Was there much debris in the river? I hope to be out there this weekend.

The willamette was full of debris 1st thing in the morning (it was slack tide so stuff normally clogs up like that). After initially striking out at T6, we tried down by frenchman's bar. The current was going strong by then and we were being hammered by debris of all sizes. We didn't stick around there for very long and ended up above KP (i.e. above the willamette) again where the water was free of junk.

I wouldn't recommend running the river before dawn or after dusk right now, it would be a bumpy ride.

Thanks ******, I figured someone with your excellent taste in boats would appreciate her I seriously considered waiting a couple more years and buying an asaltor new, but when I saw this one go up for sale this sumemr I couldn't pass it on. The top needs a little TLC and she has some scratches, but the hull is solid and the motors are in great shape. I consider battle-tested and ready to go.

Scott, consider it a favor. We got those little guys fed and out of the way so you could get to the big boys. Next time if you anchor below us I'll expect you to return the favor

gruman16,

Thanks for taking care of us! I'm glad we didn't put the stink on the river completly and you guys were still able to catch some fish.

What a great day to be out there, no wind and lots of fish. Not too many days in January like that.

Good luck and yes, next time I will anchor below so you can get the big ones!

See you out there.
Scott
