Default Alsea 12-18-03

I fished for about the last hour of daylight yesterday, up high on the North fork. Water was perfect, catching (or should I say hooking) was less than perfect. No fish, but a beautiful day! Drove by the hatchery, and there were quite a few fish in the pens. I don't know if anyone else has looking in there, but it seemed like there were a lot more larger fish (12-15lbs) than usual. Like everyone has said, the fish really aren't there in numbers yet. But they should be in a few weeks. Happy Friday!

Beaver 1,

About 4:15 p.m. on Thurs I was on the NF downstream from the bridge. Hooked the strongest fish in all my years on the NF-almost jerked the rod out of my hands and it was stripping line like no tomorrow. The brush and deep water (plus age) kept me from following. Tried to stop it before the riffle, but couldn't resulting in a broken leader at the knot. I'm thinking it was one of those 12-15# fish you saw at the hatchery, or one of those wild broodstock releases maybe. Anyway it was thrilling while it lasted and keeps me going back. (Which I did this a.m., but no luck). Let us know how you do in the future.
