I fish the wallowa in this time period and there is truth to the rumors. I would either Call Blue Mountain fly shop in pendleton or contact Joseph fly shop in Joseph. both of these places will hook you up with up to date info. Bring both fly rod and drift gear.

A little Hint "canyon"

Below the mouth of Deer Creek is the closest that you'll get to combat fishing in NE. Ore. We usually leave the guns and knives in our rigs; usually.

Unless you know some property owners or local access secrets, you'll be fishing from Minam State Park upstream. Just follow the highway, pick a spot and fish. If you fish around Deer Creek, bring your own rock to stand on.

Call Jim Horn at the Minam Store he should be able to tell you the ins and outs.

Usually if you ask, property owners will let you on to fish. There is some good water between Wallowa and Lostine(haven't checked regs so I do not if this part is open used to be though).

Good luck

Don't forget to bring a rock to stand on.
Jim, Grumpy? I've never seen him any other way.
