Default winter steelhead on the siuslaw

I was fishing just below whittaker creek, but the water was still a little muddy. Anyone had any luck along this stretch? If so what were you using?

No, we haven't been fishing yet this winter...kind of hoping you would tell us what they're taking. When I fish that stretch I usually use eggs if bank fishing...if in a boat its a hotshot/wigglewart show.
Welcome to ifish.

My uncle lives in Cottage Grove and typically fishes the Siuslaw up high when the water is off color, he has got 5-10 so far this year I have heard through the grapevine. I have no perfect count but he fishes tight to the bank and the mouths of feeder creeks when the water is roily and does quite well. Last I spoke with him he hooked three and landed two on pink birdies and straight borax cured coho eggs. Good luck to you all.
