Default Washington rivers...

I keep hearing about all these ORE coastal rivers doing pretty well, and that's all fine and stuff, but what about some WA coastal rivers? I know, "If you don't go you wont know". I am going there myself, but I was wondering how they are doing there? If you would rather not post it out loud, how 'bout a PM?

The weather has been brutal up here. When the rivers are in shape, people are catching fish. The rivers I'd usually be fishing have been puked a lot this year.

The Quilayute system has fish in it, Cook Creek on the Quinault has been smoking, but the opportunities have been limited.

I was hoping to get out this weekend......but of course the rain is forecast to set in tomorrow afternoon. We'll see.............

Just got back last night from a three day trip on the Bogachiel (my first trip there) and two of us had nineteen takes landing four apiece. All were hatchery fish in the 6-10 lb range. Fished Monday afternoon in a high but stable river, but that changed dramatically on Tuesday. Rained hard all day Tuesday and the river finally went out at about 2:30. Stopped raining later in the afternoon and the river was fishable only below the mouth of the Callawah on Wednesday morning. By midday a few boats were starting to drift again and taking fish on plugs in the main river although still high and off color. The hatchery run is about over and larger and fewer natives are expected after the first of the year.

Expected to hit the sack early last night, but my Lab decided to have her pups and I didn't get to bed until 3:00 AM. All is well with her and her seven pups. If any of you caught the thread on Lab colors a month ago on the hunting topics you'll find the colors she threw interesting. Both sire and dam are black and she gave up five yellows, one chocolate and only one black. I already had one black female spoken for and didn't get one. What's that saying about..."the best laid plans of mice and men...."
