Default Scents in fast water?

Do scents work in fast water for steelhead? It seems like a waste of time when your offering is moving toward the fish at such a fast rate of speed. I've been unable to detect a difference in the number of takes I get, but then I'm such a dork fisherman anyway ( ) and hook fish so infrequently that I can hardly remember what I was doing at the time, I started thinking maybe I'd better ask some real fisherman out there what their thoughts are on the subject. Also, is there a difference between the more liquid type of scents and the sticky kind?

Yes it works. If your driftfishing and your rig is bouncing on the bottom the scent is being carried down stream faster than your offering.Same goes for hardware,It leaves a scent trail.
