Default Let's See Fish Art

Let's see some other fish art on this thread.

I have been looking for some new fishing art of very realistic quality, and it is hard to come by. We looked at these last year at the sportman show and santa brought me some. It comes complete with a little engraved plate with all that mooshy stuff on it. It is very special to me.

Check this out!

I was surfing the net several weeks ago and came across a web site (Which isn't posted out of respect for the sponsors that advertise fish art on ifish. You may e mail DS rods for details) you should really check out if you are interested in some world class art. This man has won several awards to include world awards with his work.

I sent him an e-mail to have him contact me. Last night he called me at work from Vancouver Island and we had a nice chat about his work. One thing that stood out is how he competes and the detail of his work all the way down to the scales. I told him I have never seen work of this detail and reality. He told me it had to be that way because they grade in competition on realism and color along with other things.

Another neat thing about this artist is that he has donated a lot of his work to non profit organizations. That says something about a person right there.

The soon to be wife and I are planning a trip to the Islands to do a little vacation and fishing. We will definitely stop by his place and visit.

Check out his site!

just a fun little quick steelie illustration I did for a magazine. Although it would have been more fun to catch it I'm sure.

Here's one that my wife made for me - the picture does not do this work justice at all.

I'm a lucky guy...

Several years ago, when my boys were in cub scouts (they're both in Boy Scouts now), during the pinewood derby, there was a parents' race. I didn't care as much about winning as I did having the coolest looking cars. Combining what little woodworking talents I have and my wife's vast artistic ability, here's what we came up with. There was, however, one problem with the goose - the neck was too tall and did not fit under the light detector frame at the finish line. The first time I ran the thing down the track the frame took the head clean off! So I ran it again without the head - took 2nd place.

An old July 4th, 1985, 4 pound test, fishing for trout from the bank, Clackamas "skin mount" steelhead hanging on my wall at home.

****** - might that have come from the mouth of the collowash? Don't ask me how I remember this, but on July 4, 1985, we were camping in the upper Clack area, fly fishing. I watched someone walk down to the hole from the picnic area with a trou rod, toss a silver and black rooster in the hole - second cast - fish on - a nice steelie - they landed it and left. That wouldn't have been this particular fish, would it?

Bob, You beat me by 1/2 pound. Mine went 21 even. Mine is over 20 years old now and does not look as pretty as yours. I need to have mine touched up a little.

Here's an atlantic salmon fly I tied. I guess you could call it art. The pattern is a Rosey Dawn.
This one took about 8 hrs. to tie, I also made the hook from scratch, which took about another 2 hours.

Slow process since she is hand sewing all of it. Yes, there will be a fish or two in it.

When your looking for fish art it's hard to find. We found glass plates made by Charlton Glass at the Made in Washington store. This is a small plate compared to the much larger one I got for Christmas. The fish is made of copper and fused in the glass.
