Default Metolius Salmon Lecture, PSU, March 13

All are welcome and invited to the third and final School of Native Fish lecture on salmon at Portland State University. This series of three lectures is provided FREE by the PSU Biology Department and the Native Fish Society.

If topics like big trout, the Metolius, or the possibility of again seeing salmon there get you going, you won?t want to miss this final lecture:

March 13, Don Ratliff, Fishery Biologist, Portland General Electric will speak on -- "Habitat Diversity & Salmonid Populations in the Metolius River Basin" - recovery of bull trout, response of wild rainbows to removal of hatchery fish, potential changes with increased passage for salmon and steelhead

This is cutting edge information by one of the most knowledgable researchers on the topic. Admission is free.

All programs take place at Portland State University, Science Building #1, Room 107 starting at 7:00 pm. (Science Building #1 is on Tenth Street)

The fastest that I ever saw my Dad move was he trying to keep up with a steelhead in Squaw Creek. It empties into the Deschutes about 10 miles up from Lake Billy Chinook. This was the mid-50s before Pelton Dam. It would be great to have those runs re-established.

This sounds interesting. I'll try to make it.
The Metolius is a very special river.
You might post this on the Fly Fishing Forum and get even more response.

If you want to have a better understanding of the dynamics of Metolius fish populations, you'll not want to miss this lecture.

Ratliff has built his career researching this secretive river and this is a great opportunity to hear a summary.

See ya there!
