Default E. Fork Lewis

Fished the East Fork todayfrom the bank with my new First Cast Jigs (thanks Mark) but without any scent (sorry Marie). I'm teaching myself to jig fish this year; that's right no corkies, lead or eggs until I master this technique. Water was somewhat high but on the clear side. Very light fishing pressure and had only one drift boat pass by me. Good guys, they pulled in tight to where I was standing so as to not pass over the water I was fishing. Walked the bank for quite a distance and found that jig rods (9'6") are not designed for busting through the bush. All said and done it was a good day to be on the water and even had to deal with some sun glare as I was tracking the bobber (or is it a float?). And yes, Mark's jigs do work. Hooked, landed and released two silver rockets in the 7-8 lb range, one being a summer and the other a winter fish and both were bucks. Jig which these two fish wanted was the standby pink and white.

Observation; jig fishing is different in many ways. One of the biggest advantages was no SNAGS. I plan on continuing my self taught jig fishing schooling and will keep posting my experiences. Cheers......

Fished the East Fork this morning and it was very slow. My buddy and I fished a lot of water from Daybreak down and only managed one 7 pound chromer buck. Since it was my first of the season it made my day but we did not see or hear of any other fish being caught by boats or other bank fisherman. Conditions were perfect. It's a little scary there aren't more fish around especially after all the rain we've had. Keep your fingers crossed they'll show up soon.

I was out there yesterday and the parking lot was pretty full. I didn't have time to get my line yet. But hopefully I'll be up there a few times over the next couple of weeks. I've gotta go get that spinner rod first though. Come on Santa, I've been a good boy this year!
