Clackamas / Eagle Creek reports??
I was planning on taking a day off Friday and fish Eagle Creek and was wondering if any one has been by lately to see (or fish) it. I was thinking it might be all blown out from the recent rains. I was hoping the Clack might even be fishable at the mouth of the creek but I have no idea . Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Clackamas / Eagle Creek reports??
My dad was up at McIver yesterday and caught one little buck. He said the water looked good. Very fishable.

Nicely done, Roger. I too woke to a beautiful day, but all I got out of Eagle Creak was a broken rod. Went back to Bi-mart to exchange it and ended up w/ a better one. Tommorrow gets to be the first day w/ the newbie.

Re: Clackamas / Eagle Creek reports??
I took today off as a vacation day and could think of nothing but winter steelhead. I hit Eagle Creek at one of my favorite spots at 7:45 am. I checked the trap at the Hatchery and there were two nice steelhead and two nasty Coho's  . The water was high and clear but I couldn't see a fish in any of the water with my glasses. I started drifting a pink pearl corky with pink yarn and after a dozen drifts with no hits I decided to change it up for eggs and white yarn. I was using Amermans steelhead cured eggs and #4 Owner cutting point hooks. First cast with the eggs and bam, Fish On!!! It was a bright little buck. He jumped four times in the fast current before I managed to get him to the bank. He measured 25" and weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces. I drifted through the hole for another 20-30 minutes and decided he was the only fish in it so I moved upstream to fish the next tail out. Again I could see no signs of fish and tossed out another fresh blob of eggs. I was about halfway through the drift when it got hammered by a hog!! Fish ON!!! It was all I could do to contain this fish from racing off down through the rapids. She didn't jump but thrashed and rolled and grinded my line on every boulder she could find. I eventually got her to the bank and she measured in at 31" and 9 pounds 15 ounces. So, its now about 9:00 am and I'm done for the day!!! I headed back into town and stopped at Estacada tackle shop and got a cup of coffee and weighed in the fish for the weekly derby. Marie the tackle shop took my picture with the two fish and will email them to me so I'll be sending the proof soon. I'm headed back tomorrow morning to try my luck again. I'll keep you posted. FISH ON!!!

Re: Clackamas / Eagle Creek reports??
It was harder today but I still managed two fish out of Eagle Creek today!! The first was the brightest fish so far this year . 26" 5.6 pound buck. The second fish was alot more work. I fished a good quarter mile of the creek before I found a few fish holding. This time I actually saw the fish with my glasses! It still took several dozen drifts and I was down to my last 3 chunks of eggs. There was another angler that worked his way up stream to fish across from me. Nice - miles of creek and he's tossing his rig at my feet. Any way I yell over to the that I can't believe I haven't hooked one up with my eggs when I get a bumb and set the hook. It was a dark buck and it jumped twice and tossed the hook . I was now down to my last two baits!! Put on the bigger of the last two and tried to hit the same spot in the drift,...tic, tic,...bump.. HOOK Set!! FisH ON!!! This time he didn't get away. 4.7 pound 25" buck showing alot of color and darker than I would expect for this early in the run. I checked its fins to see if it was a Clack stray summer but it was clipped for Eagle Creek. I figured it would smoke. Nice two for two in two days of fishing.
