Let's here them Alsea Reports
Hello all, just wanted to see if anyone has been fishing the Alsea this week. I am working one full day more before the plant shuts down for a week and will be doing a lot of fishing. Just looking for reports to get the blood pumping. I was over there last Friday, went 5 for 6, but 4 I landed were dark. Did manage to get one brood stock. Let's here them............

Went this morning, looked like pea soup  Still pretty high and off color in my book, but another day or so and should be great. Might be able to go Friday if you're looking for a tag-a-long, let me know

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
We are going to go give it a go tomorrow, will start at mill creek and work down. Hopefully the color will be back and the flow will be down to where it will be worth going. I will let you know how we do when we get back Friday.
Take Care and Good luck
FOD

We floated from Mill Creek to Salmon berry. BROWN! Visibility was about 12". Still a little high, but sunny sky's and forcast says she's gonna drop more...

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
Just a suggestion. An I-fisher has put a website together that includes Alsea River level ( www.oregonh2o.com). My experience on the NF is a level of 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 feet is great with up to 6' if I'm bored and don't want to sit around the house. At this time the graph shows 6.35 and dropping, so tommorow afternoon or Fri morning should be good (if we don't get another storm of course). Check that graph and you could save some time and gas in the future and not be disappointed with high and dirty water. Good luck!

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
Was at the NF today, fished down from the bridge on 34 in the morning and down stream at Clemens in the afternoon, water was just right, but no fish, only heard of one caught. Main river should be ready by friday, it was to high today but the color was good.

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
I fished the Bridge Hole trail all afternoon and saw one fish come out. Nicer fish than the one I saw yesterday but small.

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
twitch/tackle, I'm not sure you were on the Alsea thursday or the day before. Neither day was that drift brown. If your gonna give information please don't give bunk information. It's really not in anyones best interest to lead them astray. How do I know? I fished those areas both days and the color was green with at least a foot and a half and maybe more.

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
Thank you Cully!! I am fishing the Alsea this morning and I was really worried that it was going to be brown. Almost cancelled my trip over the "BROWN" report but just couldn't believe that it would be dirty at 6.4 feet. I love fishing the main stem Alsea at that height. Wish me luck! Grant

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
Cully, didn't mean to mislead anyone. Info was not "bunk", that is how I viewed the water. Yes, I've seen browner, but it did not look green. (Primarily the Campbell-Salmonberry) And the visibility was from my toe to 3" below my knee...about 14". Next time I'll post a picture I guess.
I don't appreciate being accused of things that are not true. I am not trying to keep people off the river. If you would like a seconf opinion, PM alseaassasin, I talked to him yesterday after he did the Mill Cr float. He observed the same.
Also, heads up to anyone putting in: Watch the silt on the boat ramps. Its greasy slick and things, including people, tend to slide on it. (And hold your nose on the Salmonberry ramp, the high water created an old dead chinook bar on the side of it...its a little stinky)

Hey Grant...The Siletz is going to be "Brown" from Jan 1 through about the 2nd week in March...
Now if I could only figure out a way to keep Travis off the river I'll be in good shape.

Bill,
Cut Holes in the bottom of his boat, that will keep him off.
Grant,
Why you looking on here for reports? Just call me. I can tell you what is really going on. And where were you yesterday? I stopped by to purchase some steelhead cure.

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
OK, here is my Alsea report. THE FISH ARE NOT HERE YET!!. We floated from Fall creek to 5 rivers. The river was perfect. We hooked and released one native steelhead, one native coho(red) and lost a chrome Chinook at the boat. (Would have had to release it anyway)
When the river looks that great and you don't get bit much it means that not many fish are around yet.
Maybe next week they will be here.....
Grant

Re: Let's here them Alsea Reports
I fished it the last two days and it was really slow. Even up at the hatchery, I was there at least an hour and didn't see one fished hooked. I agree there really not in yet. It's still much better then sitting at home or working......
