Default High or Low on Wilson Thursday, Why?

Fished the Wilson on Tuesday...nothing, but, I don't give up very easy.

First question, Would you fish high or low after the rains. What is your definition of high... mile marker.

Second question where do they put in the steelhead smolts into the Wilson

I would fish low because of the answer to the second question.

There is an old saying -

After high water fish high, after low water fish low. Good luck.

I would start at the highest point on the river that you know and fish down river till you find fish.

Early in the season like this it's a crapshoot as to whether to fish high or low after a good rain. Fish will have moved up with the water but because it's so early in the year there will be a good shot of fish moving in down low too-the river will be in the low 6's tomorrow. Just a few thoughts/opinions. So, go fish, enjoy yourself, have confidence, don't second guess your choice, and pound the water while the rest of us work!

Yeah, but Brad, what do you consider "high water"? The Wilson didn't exactly blow out like it could have. A good saying though....

Kodiak, I might just see you down there... just look for the 'dumb ol girl' since I'm generally the only female on the bank at any given time.

The smolts go in at Duyckes--Lower River. To catch fish, launch at 5 AM at mills bridge and row to Duyckes in the dark. Anchor up in the line of boats and wait for legal fishing light. Then drift fish in the bow-to stern line of boats. You will catch 'em.

Where is the slower/bobber water between mills bridge and sollie bridge with public access. I know of the two pay for access spots on the south side of the river was wondering about the north side (opposite hwy6)

Thanks for the general information it is much appreciated. Skrimmy your always full of good input thanks

I think that the fish that are in the system are really spread out now. If the steelhead are anything like the salmon were this year the peak will be 1-2 weeks late.

I will be on the bank somewhere probably low around the guide shop or elswhere with an old cowboy hat with flies on it stop by and say hi.
