STEVE---Here is the answer you requested on the location of the state line in the Columbia River above McNary Dam. The ODFW and Oregon Sate Police agree the state line is in the middle of the river near the north end of the Powerhouse. You must follow Washington law when fishing on the Washington side of the river and Oregon law on our side. You may not fish at night in Oregon waters. Night fishing is legal in Washington waters. Your Oregon license is valid on both sides of the river when angling from a boat. You may land lawfully-taken fish taken on the Washington side at the Oregon ramp. Good luck fishing. STEVE KING

So according to the letter that you received the boundary is about where the orange ball is tied off to the middle buoy righ above the dam, I can't remember which letter is on that buoy but it is about as close to the middle of the river as you can get. If not it would be an easy marker to make the boundary.

Does this mean that I can fish the washington side at night with an Oregon license?

You can fish the washington side during the day with an Oregons license but for night fishing you will need to buy a Washington license. An out of state washington license is only $44 and that includes your punch card. They run from April 1st thru March 31st. Maybe one of these days Oregon will wise up on all the money they are losing and start allowing night fishing. I probably won't even buy an Oregon license this year.

after reading FNF's letter it looks as if you can legally fish Wa side with an Oregon license even at night and land on the Oregon side.

According to Mr. Kings letter, Oregon anglers can fish at night on the Washington side of the Columbia River and return to home port with their catch.
