Please consider posting such stolen items on the
"lost and stolen items forum"...

If so...send a photo if possible, a description of the moter, esp serial number. This would allow a positive id if someone locates it for sale.

thanks,

m.

Good point kayakfisher. Im looking for a new/used motor in that size range. Id hate to buy a stolen one. And if I did come across it, I could turn them in.

We had the same thing happen to us on a trip to Neah Bay about 3 years ago. Parked in a hardware store around noon on a weekday. Only gone for a few and came back and they took a nice Johnson we had that only had about 10 hours on it. What a way to start a fishing vacation.

Sorry to hear about your loss, it sucks.

Look on the bright side, it now gives you the opportunity to ditch the Mercrappy brand and come over to Yamaha.

shorthair, You might mention what part of what town you live in so people in or near the same hood could keep their eyes open for this kind of crap. I don't mean post your exact address or anything, but a general area would help. And figuring out as good as you can how these dirt bags steal our motors, what time of day/night etc. and posting their MOs might help others out also.

Was the lock a Quick Silver lock, the one that fits over the screw down shaft and locks so you can't even get to the lock with a saw or bolt cutters? That's the kind of lock I've got on my kicker, man I sure don't see how they could get that lock off of there.

Like someone else suggested, keep checking eBay. I think there are some places in PDX that also buy and sell used kickers and I'd check those too. I know there's one on Foster close to 205.

Gooi luck and let us know if you find it.

I guess it doesn't matter what you own and how good you lock it up, some slime ball will find a way to get it or wreck it. I have my boat in driveway as there isn't anyplace else to put it and sometimes at night I get up just to check on it.

We have some juvies that live across the street and they think that they can do anything they want. I put up with the screeching of tires and the minor stuff but I worry about the rest.

A year ago, the police showed up at their place and talked to them about something. An hour later, I heard big bangs against the house. I ran out and saw where big rocks had hit the house. Then I found where a dozen had hit my 25 foot travel trailer, $2000 damage. I couldn't prove that it was them but I sure suspected that they had thought it was me that turned them in for whatever (it wasn't).

I contacted their mother, who is blind and partially deaf, and asked her to see if her kids and their friends had heard anything and I would give a reward. I didn't accuse anyone but I was angry and told her that I was going to keep an eye out and when I caught the jerks, I intended great bodiy harm, no police.

Well no problems since but with the boat now there, I worry.

Isn't it sickening to walk out and notice something is missing when you know it was there the day before. Some people have no clue what how it feels to earn something meaningful. Good luck finding it.
