Where Are Your Kids?!?!
OK, following with today's theme...Where are your....? (FishingNewbie started it with where are your women). So, I thougth it would be neat to find out where all those ifish kids are.
Here's my 11 year old daughter on her first fly trip. On the Deschutes with her first set-to-net fly cuaght fish. I have never seen someone so proud of a whitefish. She was almost as proud of that fish as I was with her.

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
I took my kids fishing all the time when they were little. But now they're not little anymore and I'm usually by myself. Those were fun times even if I didn't get to actually fish much. Seems like we always flogged the water at Mills bridge (Wilson), ate our lunch, played on the beach at Barview, ate an ice cream cone at the Cheese Factory and then everybody slept on the way home.
I don't remember catching many fish, but I do remember having fun. Those days sure went by fast<sigh>.

I know I've posted this elsewhere, but what the heck. Here's my second oldest with a brute of a 57" gator. Again...all his from hookset to bank. Another junior member of Team Clast and Blast! (Our secret weapon for the sturgeon challenge - we don't need no stinkin' carrot milk - My boy just licks the bait - oooops, cat's out of the bag )

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
This kid is a fishing stud. He caught his first steelhead at the age of 7 and now at the age of 12 is extremely proficient with a bobber and jig, has caught several fish drift fishing, catches chinook backbouncing (yes he has learned to wait to set the hook). He also loves flyfishing the lakes in the summer. He will be learning how to fly fish the rivers this spring.

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
here's my pride and joy Wyatt. Born july 16th.
He's about 1 week old here. Notice how he is looking towards the fishing pole. He's a natural.
Mom thought I was missing marbles to put the tyke in the pose, but I know Wyatt loved it!

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
My daughter goes fishing with me occationally. That seems to be getting less and less as she gets older. This is her first solo fly caught trout.

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
He goes on most trips, even his sister comes now that we have a boat with a top!!)(I'll put her pic up later)
Baits, casts sets his own hook. Still needs a little help reeling on the Columbia. I am truly blessed to have my little fishing partners fish with me.
I remember when I was a kid how much I loved it when my Dad took me fishing, and I love passing that on to my kids.
(we kept this 44" fish, did not have hands in gills and then release!!)

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
I started them out right, but I don't know what happened. Maybe it was all the days I made Andrew stand out in the pouring rain with me bank fishing, when he was 3?
"Come on, Andrew, just one more cast..."
Funny thing is, when he does go, Andrew has got the touch. He outfishes Bill and I without even trying. One hand on the rod, one on a sandwich, he mutters, "Uh... I think I have another one."
"Oh, it's kind of heavy, can you take this?"
"Mom, I'm tired of reeling in salmon, can I quit now?"
ARGH!

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
I was just talking with the kids last night about fishing and they're all excited. This thread is really getting me pumped to get them out and into some fish!

Re: Where Are Your Kids?!?!
I started my kids fishing when they were between the ages of 3 and 6 out of
a dory at Pacific City. Then they started growing up and finding that they had
things on their minds (guys for the girls and ... well ... girls for the guys).
Slowly but surley I lost 3 of my bestest fishing partners to marriage and family
responsibilities. My 19 year old still makes it out on the ocean occasionally, but
Kathy has got a pretty tight grip around the old heart ...
Now, I fish alone. :depressed: I don't fish in the dory any more 'cause I got a bigger boat.
I miss sharing the adventures I have in the big boat with my four rug rats ...
but there is still hope!! I now have 4 wonderful grandsons whose lives I can ruin
by introducing them to fishing on the ocean ...
I think maybe this summer my eldest grand-baby (he's six now) is gonna make his
first TUNA! run ever!! He loves the boat and going out on the ocean with grandpa!
Yeehaw!! I can't wait!
