Default Giving back to the community...

Cindy and I would like to give back to the ifish community by donating several Short Packs of jigs to members who may be on a tight budget or might know of someone who could use some fishing gear as a present this Christmas. Please either reply to this post or e-mail me at firstcastjigs@firstcastjigs.com

Happy Holidays

Mark & Cindy Anderson

This is a great idea. Like many Ifishers who have been on this earth a long time, I have assembled tons of gear that I will never use. Rods, reels, and tackle of all kinds.

I'll bet if there was a way to distribute this stuff, lots of kids and new fishermen would love to have it. But I am not too happy about having people that I don't know stop by the house to pick it up.

How can we get this stuff distributed? How about a tackle donation day? Meet at a park, put down the tailgate, and make some newbies happy? Maybe making it part of the annual tackle swap?

What a great idea, Jack!
I'm all for that. Let's do it in the spring?

A tail gate tackle party!

I always can use fishing stuff but only in large quantys....let me explane I have all my own tackle that I would ever need.

I teach a class for the Island county 4H on fishing, and sometimes to the boy/girl scouts. if anyone wants my lession guides just email me I well gladly forward it via email.

I usully get backdated washington hunting/fishing news and a few other mags to give out, I have also been good at getting Wal***t to pony up cheap bags of plastic worms which I break down in usually bags of 5 to go farther. These kids are not ready for steelhead jigs etc. but any thing you may have in bulk, example I had the shimmano rep send me some stickers, The Izor line people sent me some small spools of line once. I got some cheap lazor hooks once they were perfect for the kids to trout fish with.

The kids like free stuff but what they like even more is your time, call the scouts, 4H, your church, your community could use the positive role model that YOU provide. I see alot of posts about stuff getting stole etc, a little bit of mentoring can go along way with the kids. I well send any one who wants it the lession guide, but when they come across better ways to teach it or update the info, please send me a copy back so I can make my lessions better too...DJ

This is a little related.

I too am feeling compelled this season to give back to my communities. One of the things I am doing is I have volunteered to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.(and that is no small feat. did you know they pay most of the bell ringers? )

I will be at the Safeway in Gresham this Saturday 9-5. I will be the one wearing the IFISH hat.

Please stop by and

We have a tackle box or two that need good homes.

I know tis the season, but I would much rather give it to a kid.

Don't forget your local food banks. I know the Klamath/Lake County Food Bank is short of food.

My daughter who is 4 years old was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile onset diabetes. Her medication runs between $250-$300 a month. We just lost our health care coverage so this is now an out of pocket expense. She loves it when daddy brings home big fish. However, due to the cost of medication fishing equipment has been put on major hold. I would be much obliged if you considered me for your promotion. Thanks, Steelyhunter
