Default What is this Pegged or Unpegged

"OK"
I am not new to fishen by far, and over 45 years, heared and tryied just about all!!!
But what is this
Pegging a corkie thing??

Is this done to make it float??
Is this done for deep water??
Why do some do this??

I have never heard of this but if it works,
I have gained some wisdom again from Ifish.

Thanks, I havent done this befor.

I think it is sticking a tooth pick between the hole and your line to keep the corkie from slipping up and down your leader.

It is done to help keep your hook up off the rocks, also it is great for once you have attached eggs or shrimp it helps keep them snugged up in your loop so they don't fall off every other cast. I have seen way too many people not use this little technique and I think had they tried it their fishing trips would not only be less frutrating but also a lot more successful.

Yup, what DS said. I peg with bait to ensure it floats my prestation immediatly and not slide up my leader or allowing it to tangle. I will leave it 2" above the hook so I can still make use of the eggloop.

But what if you use a 2 hook set up??

Bottom hook----corkie----top hook---eggs on the top hook, it well keep the bottom hook off the bottom?????/ rocks.

I have never used a two hook setup for steelies. I personally feel that if you run that with the eggs on the upper loop you have a much greater chance at hooking a fish deep enough that even if you were to let it go, it wouldn't survive. Also, from all my experience the more points you have embedded in a fish's mouth the more chance you have at one pulling free due to the fact that it distributes the pressure over a greater area.
